Re: Capel and DTae
Still bitter over the situation. I don't blame the kid but I do blame the people in their camps. Their crews always cause a fuss when things don't go their way.
My philosophy is that a commitment should mean something but in this day and age it means nothing. It is just a place holder or insurance policy.

Re: Capel and DTae
Would have liked to see the article go a bit more in depth as to why chapel refused to release him. I see both sides and obviously he made the right choice, but I agree with the logic and principles behind capel’s decision

He made a choice. The right choice would be to honor his commitment then transfer. As far as the indepth stuff I wish the article would go into detail about the obligation of a signatory to a NLI.

Re: Capel and DTae
Why even have a NLI if both parties are not going to abide by them. When offered and signed both then have an obligation to follow through in good faith barring something unusual occurring. Breaking NLI for convenience should not be allowed and nor should anyone become the bad guy for refusing to release the other party.

Re: Capel and DTae
I completely agree that App and Capel caught an unfair criticism over this issue. Although I think Capel probably should have granted the release, there is no obligation to do so and neither he nor the University deserve criticism for standing by a legal contract.

The kid joins Eric "Sleepy" Floyd as one of the greatest near misses in App State recruiting history.

Re: Capel and DTae
I agree with you except for the part about Capel probably should have granted the release. It was not hardship that led him to sign the NLI, and it was not hardship that led him to breach the contract. You can't set a precedent of that sort. Also, I doubt it was solely Capel's decision to make, but I assume he agreed that the kid should not be released. Both he and the University had their credibility on the line.Yosef84 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 23, 2018 8:13 amI completely agree that App and Capel caught an unfair criticism over this issue. Re: Capel and DTae
Granting the release would have been the easy way out which in that case may have been the best way. But in the end, at least Capel and App took a stance. Most wouldn't.Yosef84 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 23, 2018 8:13 amI completely agree that App and Capel caught an unfair criticism over this issue. Why? Were we in the running for SF? I didn't know or remember that.
