Rufus Leach
Nice article in his hometown newspaper,The Robisonian. He would have been 40 now. Hard to believe,a nightmare. I suppose many of you never saw him play or knew him.He was something ,someone very special. He simply had “it”. I still treasure the letter his mother wrote me after the funeral.Thinking Of Buddy Davis too.

Re: Rufus Leach
I remember something about him coming up to Boone and supporting himself by working at Hardee's until he earned his scholarship or something? He was a disciplined kid with drive...loved watching him play.

Re: Rufus Leach
The article brought back decades of memories....Rufus was in my opinion, one of the all time greats and should be in the HOF .He wasnt the pure shooter Donald Sims was, maybe not even Junior Braswell but he was a better “ basketball player”.Physically tough defender , smart and clutch. A winner .He’s in my group with Daryl Robinson, DJ Thompson and Braswell,Searcy,Anderson and Patterson.Marshal Phillips is still my pick as best I’ve seen over five decades but Rufus is only a step behind, maybe a half step.

I do remember watching Rufus play. He was a heck of a player and his death was an absolute tragedy. Great to see him being remembered.

Re: Rufus Leach
I remember seeing him play and that dude had one hell of a jumper. If I remember correctly, I think he hit 100+ threes in one season - a record I think.
I remember watching Marshall Phillips too and agree that he is one of, if not the best b-ball player App has seen.
