Re: Fox extended to 2021
Zach is just a tad slow for D-1 basketball. Maybe a tad and a half .Good kid though and I hope he does well. As to the extension , it appears the lateness cost us on the recruiting trail , wish it had been done prior to that , if there was to be one . We paid a price but it's done .Now there are no excuses-win 20 , or the Sunbelt Tournament , or at a bare minimum make some type of post-season play - this season - NCAA,NIT,CIT,CBI.......No excuses.

Re: Fox extended to 2021
Expecting 20 wins from our basketball program is laughable. In 46 seasons in the SoCon and Sun Belt we reached 20 wins exactly 8 times. Buzz did it four times, Cremins did it twice, and once each for Fancher and Apke. Until we actually decide to invest in and support the program as a fan base, we should be thrilled with winning records.

We also paid a price with the lateness in filling two vacant MBB assistant coaching positions. Now I'm not naive. For all I know, the new coaches may already be vetted, selected and restricted to keeping a low profile on campus until the Chancellor and DG give the green light for making the formal announcement.Stonewall wrote: ↑Fri Jun 08, 2018 1:59 pmZach is just a tad slow for D-1 basketball. If that's not the case, however, signing two excellent, experienced "teaching coaches" who can evaluate talent and get commitments from excellent recruits won't be easy this late and with the salary range that was published in the university job description ($65,000 to $85,000). That range, BTW, appears unchanged from last season. According to the UNC-System 2017-18 salary database published in the NEWS & OBSERVER, Jason Allison was near the top of that range, Manny Robinson was just over the minimum and Bryan Lentz was near the middle.
I guess we could hope that Coach Fox was knocked off his feet with so many high-quality candidates that DG agreed to stretch the range maximum upward.

Based on that info, Poole would seem to have a clear edge in experience in a couple of power conferences. The announcement should be made soon, as the job ad called for a June 1 start date. They've already lost a week + of readiness (but apparently saved a week of salary and benefits).

Re: Fox extended to 2021
The first has been done already. They have been interviewing for the other two (one to fill the internal promotion spot) for a couple of weeks. Couldn't do formal interviews until Lentz was official at Tenn but they have been setting things up for a while. Two people were here the last couple of days. Word is they want to announce all at once.

As to winning , the fact we have done it , proves that it can be done. Each of the aforementioned coaches had unique challenges, some that we still face today , some very different but perhaps even more difficult .I saw it up close in those days.If you think I’m expecting to become Gonzaga you miss read my comments. I do expect a confernce contender every few years .For this coach the time is now.No more excuses.
