It'd be nice if we got the return game from ECU.
We will get it. As I understand it was part of the football series.

I could have quoted half the folks involved in this thread. Problem is, other coaches look at your roster and see what you have coming back before blindly scheduling a visit up the mountain in the early winter. We do not have a favorable roster you want to play on the road. We have our best roster, by far, in Fox's tenure. Schools are not lining up to play us. We have zero easy road/neutral court games. Adding all this up, this is what we get. You can't defend the home schedule if that is all you want to look at. Opportunity exists to watch this team off the mountain. Coastal North & South Carolina, the DC area, Florida. Go watch your school play.

I simply do not believe there are not enough D1 SOCON,BigSouth,MEAC,CUSA,Ohio Valley,CAA schools within a bus ride distance ,with which we couldn't get home and homes .Embarrassing.

According to our attendance figures not many of you guys griping about the schedule actually show up at Holmes. So give it a rest.

This is now our standard? BTW , I can certainly understand why we don't want a home and home with Wofford...

Regardless of what other schools do or not, it's still a major step back from last year. Oh well it is what it is.

Saw 8 last season and expect to see quite a few this year, but the home OOC is tough to watch.

We've moved to the semi-variable pricing model in football and we should be doing the same with Basketball, until as has been mentioned, results and success bear demand for standardized pricing. Demand for basketball is literally zero right now. Don't take that to mean that people don't care - plenty of us do, myself included. I wish I could get up the mountain more than I do during basketball season and the only way to make most care are legitimate winning seasons against legitimate programs. Short of that, you need a gimmick, or at least you need to make it so cheap that you can't help but want to show up, if for nothing else than to eat at Peppers (or favorite Boone restaurant of your choice) prior to a weeknight game...a bit of a mid-week pick me up. I realize that "something has to pay the bills" but our guarantees to these out-of-conference schools are surely not substantial, so those savings should be passed along to the fans who care to show up for de-facto exhibition games. $5 per head or even a "pay what you can" concept would sound about right to me for most of our annual OoC schedule, at least for the time being. Would it help with the attendance numbers? I don't know...probably not, maybe...but it would at least help some feel like they weren't getting fleeced for taking the time to come up the mountain on a Tuesday to see our Black & Gold play such blah competition.

The home schedule is shitty, but the past few years have been shitty, so it's what I would expect. Attendance won't look much different from years past, hell with these being closer lower division schools it might actually increase a little. What will hurt the most is if we lose these games.

It can be debated all day wheather or not this non conf home schedule is appropriate for moving our program forward considering the tough away non conf and of course belt games. I think it is fine, but I get it. But please stop with including Ferrum, it’s an exhibition that you can watch, nothing more. I’ve seen ACC teams schedule Athletes in Action for exhibition; Ferrum should be left out of the discussion

UNCG had an exhibition with Ferrum last year and they also play Coastal Carolina this year.

The Charleston tournament is good and the other non conference road games are winnable depending on how we develop early as a team (not winnable if we don't). Once again, however, the non conference home games are disappointing. Our students and alumni deserve better. Hard to get excited about any of them. Had truly hoped for at least one interesting opponent.

Exactly. This illustrates the reason why there needs to be a scheduling alliance with another conference like Conference USA. Many schools experience this same problem, especially when other coaches can see their roster improving. App's Non-conference away/neutral schedule between Nov 11-Dec 18 is brutal (Alabama, Purdue, Georgetown, St. Louis, probably Davidson). Additionally, classes end on Dec 5 with exams the next week so there are no students for half of the Non-conference period. Had there been time for an "interesting" home opponent, it would have likely occurred during the Charleston Tournament. I'd call that a good and important trade. For those deriding Milligan on December 20th, how many of you were heading to Boone on a Thursday night before Christmas with no students in attendance. This team needs to make its bones on the road and be ready for conference season

Athletes in Action will beat Feerum 10 times out of 10. Same with Milligan.
