This game has absolutely no flow thanks to the whistles.
Seems like we've got one on every other possession.

We are better than last year, much better help defense. But turnovers and rebounding will be our weakness all year.

Still not over, but the last 10 minutes of this game are what’s wrong with college basketball. No flow whatsoever because of the fouls and whistles. Call me a sore loser, but these refs made a point to give Alabama the lead when we were up 56-52. The disparity in calls during that 10 minute stretch was absolutely disgusting.

Absolutely true. I was just thinking that I don't enjoy this game that much any more.appstate24 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 11, 2018 9:07 pmStill not over, but the last 10 minutes of this game are what’s wrong with college basketball. Some may not agree, but I've split Hornet season tickets with others for the past five years and each year I watch less and less college basketball (maybe five games last year outside of App and the NCAA tournament). It just isn't as entertaining as it used to be.

I partly agree, it has become less and less entertaining. However, I don't even consider the NBA to be basketball any more. I haven't watched 2 minutes of the NBA in the last 3 or 4 years. Just can't stomach it at all. Basketball used to be my favorite sport to watch. Now, I'd rather watch baseball, NFL or Colege football,or hockey.Saint3333 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 11, 2018 9:13 pmSome may not agree, but I've split Hornet season tickets with others for the past five years and each year I watch less and less college basketball (maybe five games last year outside of App and the NCAA tournament). I thought out defensive switching looked good. Our defensive rebounding needs some work though. Gotta work on those turnovers & free throws too.
I really liked most of our shot selection when game was in reach too. Didn’t feel like we were forcing anything. It’s dissap that the game was basically settled st the free throw line.

Got to give the officials a break. It's early in the season, with rule changes and points of emphasis it takes time to adjust and get familiar with your various officiating crews. Historically there is much more play ons and swallowed whistles as we reach March Madness.
Most teams we face won't be as long as Bama, but boxing out can go a long way even if a guy is a few inches taller. Also, turnovers lose games. Should be an interesting season to watch.

Winnable game . Lost it more mentally than physically. No excuses on the foul line .0 for 1.

We've been in a lot of "winnable" games during Fox's tenure. We finally have, from what I can tell, some solid players on this squad. I know he got an extension, but for me he needs to have a 20 win season and finish better than .500 in the conference.

I think for us this is THE year. The Sun Belt appears to be down, still way early so hard to tell. We get a decent seed for the sun belt tournament and then anything can happen.

I agree that as fans, we can start placing expectations on Fox. I think your expectations are fair. After what he inherited, I was more than willing to give him plenty of rope to pull the program out of the gutter. He's now gotten his players in the system, got the grades straightened out and had several seasons to tweak his coaching. I hope Coach Fox can put it all together and have a breakout season for the program.sixtoes9134 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 12, 2018 6:59 amWe've been in a lot of "winnable" games during Fox's tenure. Re: MBB @ Alabama 11/11 7pm
Early season games are sloppy for most teams. I had this game on, although I admit I was multi-tasking and I'm not particularly good at evaluating basketball, but the team looked to be way ahead of last year's start. It was a disappointing finish but a good competitive effort against an Alabama team that would probably be as good as any team in the SBC (based on last year).
