11-7 in the SBC gets Fox a winning record.

5 of the first 7 are on the road. Need to win 1-2 of those and hold serve at home to have a chance. Go 1-6/0-7 during that stretch and I think it should be over for Fox.

I'd give Bryan Lentz a look. While he did spend time under Fox he isn't really a Fox guy. He's really a part of the Barnes tree with building blocks from his dad at Lenoir Rhyne. On the same staff I'd go for Rob Lanier. He would certainly be someone hungry and looking for a chance to prove himself.
Interesting. Lentz certainly is getting good experience at Tennessee working with an awesome basketball team and Rick Barnes is obviously a great mentor to have. That being said he was in Boone with Fox for four seasons and in my opinion, if you make a change with Fox I think you just need to go in a whole new direction entirely. I wouldn't bring back anyone with a connection to the Fox era. That's not a slight on Lentz as I'm sure he'd do some things differently, but the program to me, needs a complete overhaul.
Like I said Lentz isn't really a Fox guy. He just wanted to get back closer to NC and the App position was open. He was with Barnes in Texas before he came to App. So he has now had two long stints with Barnes. That is why he is part of the Barnes tree. I would be fine with Lentz or Lanier.
You are appdaze and you must be in a daze. All indications are that Bryan Lentz is a good guy but there are almost none to show that he's ready to be a D-I head coach. He was an assistant coach at L-R by virtue of being the head coach's son. He's never been an assistant coach at either UTX or at UTK. You mention his two long stints with Barnes--uhhhhh no! How 'bout four years at UTX and seven months at UTK. Try "video guy" at both stops w/Barnes and under five years total.

OTOH, Lanier might be OK if he made it through DGillen's process.

Someone asked for names so I just dropped a couple names, chill. I mentioned his dad from LR. I didn't realize you had an axe to grind against the dude.
I'm chilled. Thanks for the advice. Now this...No, I just noticed that whether intentional or not, you managed to inflate Lentz's experience and equate (perhaps by innocent insinuation) his experience as being well-suited to serve as HBC at App. You almost, but not quite, suggested that Lentz was on the same or similar experience level with Lanier. I just chose to do some fact-checking. Nothing more. Just me being picky-picky. You're turn to chill. Go Apps! Beat USA! We probably agree on that last part.
If it happens to the Apps, it happens to me!

Does anyone remember when we used to use the live chat here on Yosef's Cabin for basketball games like we do for football games. I do.

Worse than that, 7 of the first 11 are roadies. The pressure on Fox will be immense. Even if he wins 6 of those 11, he'll still be down two games in the win column on the season with back-2-back-2-back home games with CCU, Ga State and Ga South up next. I hope not, but that could yield three home losses in a row. Gonna be interesting to see if the team can grind it out.

By 10 PM CT on Sat. Feb. 9 (immediately following the game at Tx-Arlington) we'll have a pretty good idea where this season is going.

RealTimeRPI has App going 1-10 in the next six weeks. If that happens, hands to keys to Allison.

If we go 1 and 10 I think we can put an MMB staff together and coach the season out for free souvenir cups with ice.

Are you suggesting hand the keys to Allison to finish the year out or hand the keys to Allison to be the new coach?

We have better athletes and they continue to underachieve. I would hand the keys to Allison and work short handed the next two years. We know what Fox can do, I bet Allison would do better.Costs us zero .

What about...
Mark Phelps?
Joel Justus?
*gulp* Jon Scheyer?
I thought Steve Robinson would have been good at App many years ago and wished they'd tried for him back when Peterson came back the second time however I think at this time he must not want to be a head coach again.

I really believe that if DG makes a change in season it should be sooner rather than later. Allison has recruited 95% of the guys in the roster right now and has some studs coming in next class. He is one of the best recruiters that we could ever have here and his job for Fox has been to get players and that is exactly what he has done. I think letting him run a different style for a month or two would be great to see what the guys he has recruited can do, and I think the style would be a lot more exciting, particularly with the amount of length and athleticism that is on that roster!

Fox needs to go. It's that simple. Randy Jackson could coach these guys better.

Joel Justus....now, there's an interesting guy with NC connections. I wasn't aware of him.

might be problematic, based on his current salary and trajectory for success at Murray State. He might end up as a high major coach...

The middle 20 minutes of the USA game looked like an episode of "the Walking Dead"
