The Tx State Bobcats (RPI 95 of 353 teams)are in town to take on the Apps (RPI 312 of 353 teams) in a contest set to tip-off at 2 PM on a snowy afternoon in The High Country.

The Bobcats are off to very successful start (13-3 overall, 2-1 SBC) for the second year in a row. The Apps, not exactly, managing to start with a grim 5-11 overall record and a @#%& 0-3 in SBC play. It was just about a year ago that Tx State was sporting an unbeaten record in SBC play when they encountered a slumping App squad only to absorb an upset loss which sent them into a nose-dive that saw them lose 18 of their last 19 games.

This is a different season and surprisingly, Danny Kaspar still has his job. Not many coaches could weather a 1-18 slide to end a season. Kaspar brought in seven new players for this season with his typical group of JuCo and D-I transfers. Other than the newbies, not a lot has changed. Kaspar coaches an ugly and disruptive (hard to watch) brand of basketball and his players usually carry it out as they were coached. The quick Nijal Pearson is back and leads a trio of double-figure scorers with his 17.8 ppg average.

The Apps lead the series between the two programs 5-4 and have won two in a row. Despite being on their home hardwood, a third straight Mountaineer win over the 'Cats will not come easy. Nevertheless, this is a must win for the Apps.

Oh, did I mention that this is a must win for Jim Fox and the Apps?

Here's hoping the basketball team has had enough of constant losing and the turn-around begins today.

Hard to talk bad about a team you love and want to win-win-win, but man this team is not a team. We have scoring guards, NBA players sons, other names of names, but who really leads this team on and off the court? The game plan seems to be lets give the ball to 2 or 3 players and stand around and watch and then not get a rebound or not get back on defense. I had very high hopes for this season because of what we supposedly have on the roster and really it wasn't high hope just an above 500 record. To say the team is not a team points to one person, i.e. the head coach. We have never been good on the court in his tenure. I applaud the efforts off the court, but cutting the loss at the top is needed. Its not going to make things worse for this season in my arm chair coaching opinion. I do hope we win today, but man bottom of the sunbelt is bad-bad-bad. Hopefully the players will have a team meeting after this game or before, something needs to change now.

Our App Vision broadcasts are as bad as the rest of the conferences football broadcasts. Reminds me a lot of that dang Chattanooga C that was always filling up the screen.

Up 35-33 at the half. Forrest hit a three at the buzzer to give us the lead at the break. Passing is better and crisper today, but I’ve seen this movie before.

U..g..l..y first half but we’re up 35-30 at half do to some good defense, better ball control and lots of made free throws.

We consistently put ourselves in difficult holes that are a bear to get out of. Props to these guys for fighting through an ugly start to take a lead into halftime. If we play defense as well in the second half as we did late first, we’ll win this and other games.

I’m full expecting we come out of half time and go several minutes without a bucket. Would love to be proved wrong.

I love the energy that Tyler, Isaac, and Williams bring to the floor. When they’re hitting shots it opens up things for Justin & Shabazz. It’s tough to expect efficiency when half your offense is running through the same two guards.

In looking at the online schedule, our last seven home games are on ESPN+. It makes so little sense that I want to believe that the decision came down from on high (either ESPN Hdqtrs or from SBC Hdqtrs).

Can someone please tell appvision to stop playing replays during live ball action, it’s embarrassing to keep missing scoring plays because we are showing a replay.

I don't think it's talking bad or being disrespectful as I heard someone say yesterday... when you are pointing out the facts as you and others have. Is it fair to say everyone on this team sucks? No! Is it even fair to say Fox cannot coach at any level or in any aspect of the game? No. Again as many have pointed out its frustrating as all get out to see the talent and not the results. Its mind blowing to see 20% of 20 plus 3 pointers made and no one telling these guys to stop or actually run an offense. We've all heard about how nice a guy Coach Fox is and that's great! They've recruited good kids. I'm sure he's an upstanding citizen. Maybe he's never broken a law. Maybe he gives more to charity in a year than I make. None of that means someone has what it takes to run any level program. Sorry to anyone who thinks I'm being disrespectful to Jim Fox.
