They are fun to watch. 9-7 on the year, 3-2 in the Belt. B Like the way they move the ball, such a difference.DaphneUrquhart wrote: ↑Sat Jan 19, 2019 3:59 pmI switched to the women's game when I realized it was on ESPN+ as well. Ladies winning by 13 with 9 seconds left.

Boy I tell ya, Doug’s gonna earn every bit of that paycheck this year between football and basketball coaching changes.

A not ready for prime time basketball program in too many ways to list here. Sad and totally unacceptable for an institution as strong and proud as Appalachian.EastHallApp wrote: ↑Sat Jan 19, 2019 4:02 pmGillin has to make a change now. Just HAS to. It’s inevitable anyway. This season is probably lost, but you can’t have a team just obviously quitting on the coach for another month and a half.
Totally unacceptable!

I put that on Twitter a week ago. Glad I'm not the only one who feels that way.
When will "It's better than what we had" no longer be good enough for App State?

I’m at the Radford vs UNCA game. The Highlanders move the ball well, get lots of easy interior buckets and dunks, and play great defense with active hands. If they can do it with what I assume is a pretty small budget, we can too.

Gillin will probably do the doofus thing. Announce that ASU is making a change in basketball coaches but allow Fox to continue coaching until the end of the season. That's what then AD Roachel Laney did with Tom Apke some years back. That one led to a case of players and coaches quitting on each other.

Yeah Radford is good right now, definitely would be a guy to look into. The dream hire would be the coach from Furman, I know that's probably not even remotely realistic but I'd at least make a call.

We could have Mr. Bean coaching and would win if people actually came to games..... I get we're not a marketz school, but students only want to waste free time and possible money on getting laid, not watching a team attempt 3000 3 pointers a game. I went to one game last year and have been to 2 this year, so I'm part of the problem..... but I'm 36 and have a busy workload on my hands. I think we need better marketing more than better coaching.

How about Jason Williford, associate head coach at UVA. He’s spent 10 years as an assistant at Virginia, though, so he might be too good for us.

Re: MBB: App State @ CCU 2 PM HTC Center, Conway, SC
I am just trying to look at it as if I was a player... If I could hear my own granny stricken with laryngitis cheer for me and see her in the crowd of 175 people in a venue I would assume can seat at least 5-6000.... I would not be motivated in the least to give the cliche 110 % expected from "student athletes". The apathy may be the fault of coaching, players, or fans or any combination.... but the apathy is the problem at the end of the day. I feel for coach and I feel for the players much more than I feel for the fans who have not been to a game in years. I (probably wrongfully) think most of the folks that complain and care about basketball here attend games to feel highfalutin near the court and drinking a beer while the other 100 simpletons in attendance drink actual iced sodey pop out of souvenir cups ordered 10 years ago for convocation center purposes. We're a football school in a state known for basketball, but I do expect to beat WCU with the rest of you'ns.hapapp wrote: ↑Sat Jan 19, 2019 9:28 pmI think winning produces the crowds.NoLongerLurking wrote: ↑Sat Jan 19, 2019 9:23 pmWe could have Mr. Bean coaching and would win if people actually came to games..... If he's coaching at UVA and has coached there 10 years, he thinks he's too good for anybody (including UNC and Dook) except UVA. That's the way things roll in Charlottesville. If they gave out national championships for arrogance UVA would win the trophy every year.

I hope for a lower level coach who has shown that they know how to run a program and teach basketball. Please no assistants who might, or might not, be able to learn to do it.
