We're doing a much better job attacking this zone. Time for off kilter 3s :p

And that's that. Another tough loss for the Apps, this time in OT. 82-81 Ark State.

What is Fox’s by year record in games decided by 5 or less. It has to be terrible.

Their zone defense totally befuddled us.

We can’t adjust in time to impact the outcome. Shot the lights out from deep, good free throw shooting but lose to a pretty bad team. I feel for the players.

Jacked another bad shot instead of working for an easier one, therefore, essentially causing the loss. Rinse and repeat. Allison looked more involved. Maybe he’s preparing to take over.

It’s so hard to watch this. It’s like a horror movie. Everything starts OK. Everybody’s having a pretty good time. And then. Chainsaws. No! Don’t go there. Don’t shoot those NBA 3s with 2 seconds off the shot clock when you’re trying to get out alive! Don’t kick it back out to the NBA three when you have a shot from 2 feet. Why did they go hide with the chainsaws. I can’t look. But I can’t look away. Uhhhhh. Yuk. Blood everywhere.

It’s the nightmare you can’t wake up from. Too much talent and potential in these players to be this pathetic.
DG, I’m begging end the nightmare.

Re: Men's Basketball @ A-State
The flagrant call in overtime was horrible. Forrest was going for the ball. Should have been a common foul.
Still, Ronshad got the ball with 10ish seconds left, down one, could have drive to the rim in transition, yet pulled up for a 3. Absolutely befuddling.

Re: Men's Basketball @ A-State
That's the Fox "signature" E-O-G play. A guard drives through traffic toward the arc and forces it up from 20 to 25 feet...Clank! Maybe it's time for a different play call, coach!
If it happens to the Apps, it happens to me!

I’ve been a HUGE Doug Gillin fan from day one. His management of the football coaching transition has been masterful and his vision for Appalachian Athletics is the same as mine. That being said, I’m starting to lose confidence in him when it comes to basketball. The time has come and gone to relieve coach Fox of his duties. It’s indefensible. What in God’s name is he waiting for?

Re: Men's Basketball @ A-State
My belief is he wants the entire staff gone. If he fires Fox today that gives Allison a chance to finish strong and then puts Doug in a predicament.Gonzo wrote: ↑Fri Jan 25, 2019 7:03 amI’ve been a HUGE Doug Gillin fan from day one. Re: Men's Basketball @ A-State
It all goes back to that little "run" last season, where there was a brief glimmer of hope that things were finally starting to turn around. The decision to extend Fox, or go in a different direction had to be made or face recruiting repercussions. We rolled the dice with a 2 year extension, and now it appears we came up with snake eyes. I trust Doug has and is currently searching for the best possible replacement. Until that time it is a Groundhog's Day train wreck every time we take the floor. Can't imagine how it could get much worse than it is now. We may have to endure the rest of the season, but I'm trusting DG is doing great work while we sleep.

Re: Men's Basketball @ A-State
Gonzo I'm as frustrated as you and others. Many have pointed out that firing at this point in the season is rare and also I think Doug is in a difficult position with the extension. What to do what to do? I don't think he should get another season and I don't know enough about Allison and if he would do better but if Doug does want to wipe it clean he should wait. We don't know... maybe he already has a plan in place and has for months now.Gonzo wrote: ↑Fri Jan 25, 2019 7:03 amI’ve been a HUGE Doug Gillin fan from day one.
