The bad news there is it was more Capel coaching leftover than Fox coaching start up .

The offense looked very Davidsonesque then though. Tons of hustle plays, hard cuts, constant movement. That’s what disturbs me the most. It’s as if our current players don’t have much buy in

Yeah. And all of Capel's players were gone after Fox's second year (very few were left in year two). He's had three years of just his players.

This team plays nothing like a Davidson team. This team played hero ball most of the season and Fox allowed it. That's the answer to whether we need a new coach or not. You can look around at good teams, Wofford, Belmont, Liberty and watch what good basketball coaches can do with decent talent. The recurring theme on this topic is Fox was a nice guy when I met him. That matters not.

My guess is that Gillin is at the WBB tourney to root on the App women. As soon as that's over he'll return to Boone and give us his decision regarding the fate of Fox. We shall see what we shall see.

I’m growing impatient too, but I was talking to Big C the other day and he brought up a few interesting points. Any potential new coach is still coaching. Most leagues are still in their conference tournaments. Gillen probably wants to limit the amount of time in which we have no head coach to avoid transfers as much as we can.

But I don’t think him being in NoLa for the women is a factor. He can work remotely on the men’s team and I’m sure he is.

I understand not wanting to take away any luster the Women's team is enjoying right now by announcing a MBB coaching change. Let them enjoy all the spotlight while they're still alive in the SBC Tourney. Once that's over, then we can move on to what needs to happen with MBB.

It didn't stop Troy from dumping their head coach. I have a feeling he's not going to let him go.

If Gillin is in NOLA, then he should fire Fox on Monday when he's back.

Cobb fired Capel on a Monday after returning from Asheville.

I think Gillin will want to fire Fox to his face if he does decide to give him the axe and he'll also want to meet with the players afterwards and give them re-assurances that he has their best interests at heart, etc. He can't do these things if he's in Nawlins so I look for Monday to be the day.

I'm not convinced that there will be a firing.

I'm not either. DG seems to be a thoughtful and calculating person. He gave Fox a 2 year extension. Does he think 2 years is the right amount of time to accurately judge the direction of Fox's program?

Not the case if Bobby Lutz is begging to coach here as was stated in another thread about this.
But I'm sure other candidates will be interviewed that we may well be waiting on to finish their seasons.
