Re: WBB Sun Belt Tourney
The Apps played their hearts out. The ladies were just gassed by the end. Great effort, great season, and our ladies have a great future under Coach Elderkin.
They are so much better coached than the men’s team it’s not even funny.

Heck of a game, coming from a guy who has never watched women's basketball ever, may just make it to a few games next year to see this group play.

Re: WBB Sun Belt Tourney
It was just too much to ask of our ladies in three days. They just ran out of gas and got clearly out-rebounded down the stretch. In no way, however, was the 80-64 final score indicative of the closeness of the contest or the scare that LR got.
I have nothing but pride for the Apps and their tremendous leader.

Re: WBB Sun Belt Tourney
Fantastic run by this team. The Sun Belt gets what it wants, the higher seeded teams to rest and play someone who has played three nights in a row. This squad loses just two seniors, one a major contributor in Madi Story who cemented her place in App Basketball history with that buzzer beater. That shot should put her in the HOF if she was not already heading that direction. Hell of a fight from this group.

Re: WBB Sun Belt Tourney
I have loved watching these ladies play. They truly play team basketball and are fun to watch. Teams don't just get that way by magic. There's tons of practice ... good practice ... that goes into a team knowing every player and every play like our team does. Kudos to our coaches who led the charge and our team who gave it their all! They make me proud to wear the Block A.

Re: WBB Sun Belt Tourney
I'm amazed that the team shot 51 percent from the field and 40 percent from 3 (was 45 percent until late) in their third game in three days. Not to mention against a fresh team with the best defense in the conference.

I think if they get invited they should definitely take the opportunity to play in the WBI again. Would be nice to see the women win another championship and be a 2-time WBI champ

It did, however, put the conference's best teams in a position to win. And USA showed that one could make it thru to play for the title despite not having the multiple byes.

Re: WBB Sun Belt Tourney
As per the logic of Fox's last deal, Angel was above .500 overall (1yr), above/at .500 in conf (1yr), won a 2nd round game (1yr), and won a quarter final game (1yr). So we at least have to extend her contract 4 years.
This is not a shot at WBB, it is a shot at MBB.
But Angel has just 1 year left on her contract and is only getting a $5000 bump in pay for next year, so she more than deserves to get an extension at this point.

That's what I do. I gripe and I know things.

Re: WBB Sun Belt Tourney
My boss has said I can break away long enough to watch the game as long as I come back to work afterwards. UNCA is less than 4 miles from our office.Stonewall wrote: ↑Tue Mar 19, 2019 8:01 amExcellent!
