If we learned anything from the Football HC search it's to not trust any "sources"

Marshall Phillips might have been the best all around player I have seen at App . Rufus being not far behind.
You obviously didn't see Jeremy Blocker.
I’ll see your Jeremy Blocker and raise you a Bruce Faulkner.

There were some Nananovichs and Sucaovichs and assorted other vichs including Coach Vich from the early 70s. They have my vote.

Vucosovich and Milosovich...and Dudas....but Spurlock was the man.

Hahaha, had to look him up as I thought you were being serious.
He was a tall, big guy who thought he was a shooting guard, but he was built like an offensive lineman. He’d stand in the corner by himself with nobody guarding him and clap twice for the pass and then hoist an ill-advised three point shot.

I was one of the team managers his freshman year. Dude was *always* the last to shower after a practice or a game. Always. Had to wait around another hour for him before I could throw all the gear in the laundry.

When Steve Spurlock was focused he was the best player on the floor.

Per HoopDirt:

Early names at Appalachian State include Gardner-Webb head coach Tim Craft, Presbyterian head coach Dustin Kerns, and Campbell head coach Kevin McGeehan.
Yikes.

All of these are Big South coaches which is interesting. Tim Craft would be my vote of the three listed. I'm not entirely sure why Dustin Kerns is a candidate.

Be interested to see who else comes up.
If you can recruit to Buies Creek, Boiling Springs, or Clinton, SC and have decent success, Boone should be a breeze....similar to Jason Allison’s thoughts when he arrived from VMI. He’s recruited well, but we haven’t seen the results on the court. As for Kerns, check out what he’s done in a very short time at Presbyterian compared to where they were before. The Blue Hose are near the top of several ncaa statistical categories and he’s coached under Mike Young at wofford twice. He’s also from nearby Kingsport, TN.

I watched Spurlock give a good UNC Charlotte team 36 and 18 one night. I thought for sure he was going to be an NBA player - dude was impossible to deal with when he was right.

Apke recruited well - Spurlock, Ricky Nedd, Nod Carter, Broderick Parker, Billy Ross, Junior Braswell, Chad McClendon, Jeff Williams -- those dudes were ballers. Should have won a lot more games with that talent.

Junior Brazwell spiked on me in volleyball once. I tried to block it, but could only reach up to his elbow. True story.

Ricky Nedd had the record for 2-Point Field Goal Percentage for 1992-93 and 1993-94.

He lost to the team that became the first-ever team to lose to a 16 seed last year. Pass.

Yes, but he didn't have enough attempts to qualify to lead the ncaa. He didnt take bad shots. Layups and dunks. Was one of the worst free throw shooters I have ever seen. But I loved to watch him play, especially when he played the point forward.

Surprised I haven't seen Rodney Peele's name, unless I overlooked it somewhere.
