Awesome job!! So proud of the ladies, and very happy for Angel. The lady Apps got down early and didn’t panic. Great team win, and a very exciting team to watch. The future is bright. Huge thanks to Madi Story for all she did for this program. It’s Great To Be A Mountaineer! GO APPS!!

Congratulations Ladies!! Heck of a game. Way to go from a 8 win season last year to 22 wins. Awesome! Also four of starting five return next season. A job well done!

How’s the crowd...
Largest crowd of season. 1823.
Near the end of the game the PA announcer mentioned the crowd. It was a bit hard to hear but I thought he said it was a record for women's basketball at Holmes or women's basketball at App. Maybe the announcer did say it was the largest crowd of the year.

They had the one side gated off so it was impossible to walk around the entire concourse and that forced everyone to sit behind the benches which makes for better TV. A few were sitting opposite. The students turned out very well. Not football good but basketball good. The one end section seemed more full than not.
This is my very generic signature added to each post.

Announcer said largest App WBB crowd ever.

North Texas was using high screens with their bigs and hit several 3s to start the game. With 3:50 to go in the first, just over six minutes in, it was 20-8 UNT. It took them until 3:25 left in the third, over 20 minutes of game later, to get to 40 points.

The adjustments were effective. Fight through the high screens take your shots and most importantly, keep the pace up. Several UNT players were gassed in the first quarter. It was a matter of time. The shots stopped falling and Bayley became the boss down low with 22 (!) rebounds.

It's fun when a team is expected to be great and is great, but it's a different type of special when they're not and become great. This season was so rewarding. It took Angel a while to get a full compliment of Sun Belt caliber players that stayed healthy and stayed during the off season after the mess that was left behind. She's the best hire Rick Beasley ever made.

Plummer is a force down low to say the least. Polacek is fearless as a true PG who pushes the pace when needed. Story could score a bucket when no one else could and wanted the ball in pressure moments. Stanley gained a lot of confidence in the WBI driving to the basket and pulling up for jumpers. Gosnell has great versatility and can be the leading scorer on any given night.

Angel better get an extension this off season. Her current deal is up this time next year.

Allow me to note that Angel has the best group of assistant coaches that she's had since she arrived on campus. The admin needs to help her keep 'em.

Another great day to be a Mountaineer. Hate I couldn't be in the crowd last night. Good job bringing home the hardware!
