Michigan Tuesday night

The next , or latest “New era” begins. We have some talent and if we play the kind of defense we are striving for we might surprise the league. Michigan is an established power. There is no easing into this season. I’m anxious to see things come together, and I expect in a month or two they will.

Hope you're right. I'm old enuff now to wonder if I'll ever live to see the program righted and respectable again.
A brief scan of the U of M roster tells me they have four or five guys as big as or bigger than H.Seacat. Hafta keep our expectations reasonable for this one.

They too are breaking in a new coach, so it should be an interesting game for both sides. They clearly have the edge in talent but I am excited to see the place and defense that Kerns is putting into place. Good news though; with how bad our program has been it should only be uphill from here on....right?

I am all in Coach Kerns. I have seen a major culture shift based on the engagement with other sports on social media and his exclusive interviews with 247. The defense first mentality is exactly the kick in the ass this program needs.
Should be an electric atmosphere in Ann Arbor when App State comes to town. Ever heard that before?
Michigan is a young team that will be without a talented freshman Franz Wagner (Mo's younger brother I believe). Expect growing pains by both teams, which could lead to an abundance of turnovers and transition opportunities - I like our chances if we can consistently get out in transition. We know this team can run the floor and fill up behind the 3 pt. line, just a matter of getting in UM's grill and challenging them.
To quote my friend Herb Brooks: "Great moments are born from great opportunities." Tune in folks, we could be witnessing the start of something great.

I don’t have much optimism for this first game, but I am looking forward to seeing how the team develops over the season.

With this new coach, I might start tuning into basketball more. Seems like it'll be an interesting developmental season.

The game is on The Big 10 Network as well. Sorta like another game I remember.

Sure hope that the men play better than the women did today.

Sounds like this game has one more thing in common with the football game in 2007, other than being on Big Ten Network. Each game featured/will feature a current Madden NFL video game commentator:

Not expecting a win on the first game, but I'm hoping the team looks good and holds their own.

A win is unlikely, but I have five years worth of miserable memory to determine if we've improved.

I will tell you the players expect nothing less than a W. The culture of the program has changed quickly. I'm excited for what Kerns can do.

Why am I picturing a three guard lineup with AE as point, Coco and Courman as shooting guards and Tharrington and Kerry Brown as the post players?

I grew up with TJ Courman and I will tell you he was a hell of a scoring guard on the hardwood too. He was like trying to catch lightning in a phone booth in every sport he played.

Sixth man would be Lynch, and designated shot blocker.

Being competitive at any given time in the game will be an improvement and win for the team. Hopefully this performance, whatever the outcome is, fuels the confidence of the team and sets a positive tone for the entire season.

This will sound harsher than I intend it to, but I remain skeptical until proven otherwise. I am excited for a fresh start under Kerns but I'm afraid I've become accustomed to losing basketball. I would love to be awakened from that notion.
