Re: at South Allie
The Apps shot 54.4% from the field and scored 52 points in the paint. This is "unheard of" in recent memory (8-to-ten years) I like it!
Forest is back...32 points. Some of us (include me in that group) gave up on him too soon. Kerns didn't!

If it happens to the Apps, it happens to me!

Are these the same guys? Yes.And no. The improvement in most every aspect is obvious - but the biggest perhaps is in the locker room.

Re: at South Allie
Surely thought we were going to give it away for a second when the score got pulled to 65-61, but fortunately neither team could make a shot and there were about 5 turnovers in that time that drained the clock and we got a good basket somewhere in there to put the game out of reach. Also, fantastic to see some free throws fall. Excited for this season, and excited that other people seem to be excited.

Re: at South Allie
in some ways i've been anticipating basketball season more than football this year. football we knew what we had returning...just had questions with Satt leaving ...but knew we would be looking around 9 plus victories......basketball thought....i figured we would be looking at around 12 or so wins....but now we might just have a winning season within our grasp....and maybe....just maybe a post season tournament

Maybe the program has finally turned the corner. I do not want to get my hopes up. Yet.

Re: at South Allie
Watched the game from start-to-finish last night. Enjoyed every second. I haven't been able to say that much in the past 6 years.
Justin Forrest stat line:
32 pts
6 ast
4 rebs
10-17 FG
9-10 FT's
This was by far the best all around game I've seen Justin Forrest play. He found open teammates for uncontested jump-shots. And they knocked them down. He was active on the defensive end, especially coming down to double team the post. He didn't settle for contested jump-shots early in the shot clock. He knocked down FT's. He finished around the rim. But most importantly, he controlled the flow of the offense.
Kerns outcoached the opposition. God it feels good to say that. In the first-half, USA (that abbreviation needs to be changed) caused some problems with their up the line deny defense, but coming out of the half we hit them with a couple quick back-door cuts that pushed the momentum our way. The way we handled the clock inside of 8 minutes to go was brilliant. We played aggressive defense, but weren't looking to push. Forrest and Williams showed great progress with their ball-handling and game management.
Overall, a great team win. DG better start a collection plate so that we can lock Kerns down. I'm sure if this trend keeps up he'll be getting some calls.

This is the type of improvement that we have been hoping to see for years. Now, lets make it consistent.

Re: at South Allie
Really looks like Kern's focus on defense is giving us more offensive opportunities and when the shots fall (as well as free throws), we tend to put up a fantastic effort.
Definitely a fun team to watch, and it looks like the team is full buying in to the new coaching staff and system.
