Looking at our remaining schedule, we’ve only lost to GSU. Really great chance to finish strong!

Losing 3 key starters off this year's team will be tough to replace. Your expectation for 20-23 wins may be a little lofty...LOL!!!!AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 09, 2020 12:20 pmIf he can get a top 4 seed then no doubt Kerns is the SBC COY. I don't see us making the NCAA tourney and I'll be happy to make any tournament after the last few years but I do expect 17 or 18 wins this year. If we can reach that then 20-23 wins should be a legit goal next year.ggasu wrote: ↑Tue Feb 04, 2020 3:03 pmA 2-4 seed is needed in the Obscure Sun Belt Tourney Format.
Win the next 2 at home and that becomes a real possibility. Georgia State currently in 2nd has a crazy tough final 4 game stretch.
This is the first time in a long time that we have a good shot at the NCAA tourney. Hopefully we can get the students behind the team and have good crowds down the stretch.
CJ Huntley, our recruit from Davidson Day is 6’10” and has a huge upside from what I’ve seen. He might be more of a stretch 4 player though. My guess is that if we don’t land a freshmen post player, we will bring in a juco who can contribute right away. We still have 3 scholarship spots to fill.
I thought we would win 13-14 games this year so if Kerns can reach 19 wins, which is possible, I would give it to him. I do agree the LR coach has them rolling and he would be a good one. I just felt they had a much better team so if we could rise up to 2nd or 3rd in standings I would say that is very deserving of consideration for COY.hapapp wrote: ↑Sun Feb 09, 2020 3:38 pmWe do lose three starters off this team. Frankly, Kerns benefitted from a inheriting a veteran squad. The real challenge could be next year. That should not be taken in any way as an intended slight. He has done a remarkable job getting this team to play a solid game of D. I would certainly think he will get some consideration for COY but if LR continues on their pace, their coach will likely take the honors.AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 09, 2020 12:20 pmIf he can get a top 4 seed then no doubt Kerns is the SBC COY. How common is this for basketball coaches?T-Dog wrote: ↑Sun Feb 09, 2020 5:49 pmI feel like Kerns has the ability to adapt to different teams with different strengths and weaknesses and not just have the same team every year.
Hustle, going after loose balls and defense are almost universal, so you can have those as building blocks and create different identities.
Hence why I'm not as concerned about the future, as long as Kerns isn't lured away.
Just as likely as in Football. I mean, that's how we got Kerns from PC. These guys wanna support their family and coach at the best schools.VNova wrote: ↑Tue Feb 11, 2020 11:57 amHow common is this for basketball coaches?T-Dog wrote: ↑Sun Feb 09, 2020 5:49 pmI feel like Kerns has the ability to adapt to different teams with different strengths and weaknesses and not just have the same team every year.

I tried to search for the exact source for this, but basically it comes down to whatever teams are tied, they look at "who beat who" in the series, (1&1, sweep) and that should be the first main tie breaker.bigdaddyg wrote: ↑Tue Feb 25, 2020 2:38 pmBased on who everyone above us plays in their final 2 games it’s not beyond the realm of possibility that several teams (including us) end up 10-8. Even Texas State has two toughies to go. Just for kicks and giggles if there is a tie between several teams at 10-8 and the schools split head to head how is seeding decided?

Great summary of the Apps' opportunities over the next two or three weeks. This team deserves to have some fun and make some post-season noise after what they (especially the juniors and seniors) have endured in their time as Mountaineers. Give 'em Hell, Apps!firemoose wrote: ↑Tue Feb 25, 2020 4:05 pmHalfway through article...GregPercussion wrote: ↑Tue Feb 25, 2020 3:36 pmI tried to search for the exact source for this, but basically it comes down to whatever teams are tied, they look at "who beat who" in the series, (1&1, sweep) and that should be the first main tie breaker.bigdaddyg wrote: ↑Tue Feb 25, 2020 2:38 pmBased on who everyone above us plays in their final 2 games it’s not beyond the realm of possibility that several teams (including us) end up 10-8.
