Old school thoughts..

Unread post by PBR1893-BEER-HAT-GUY » Sun Mar 01, 2020 8:42 am

I know I’m old and out of the loop but do others question why we don’t crash the offensive boards? I’m sure it’s has something to do with sports analytics? A majority of us on here are coaches from the stands and except for organized sports growing up, we have little college experience or familiarity of new methodology. However, as a kid, fundamentals drilled in my head were...crash the boards and when on defense, put your hands up and contest your opponents lane to the hoop. Ok...I’ll step down from my old man soap box.

I have seen theory kind of stuff that I'm sure someone has employed before that tried to say its offense was about 3 point shooting and getting back on D faster or trapping to get possession again quicker for more 3 attempts. It was part of the small ball theory stuff.

As far as analytics people go this guy has a great explanation of the statistical view of rebounds. Totals aren't what they seem.
