The Sunbelt schedule is on-line .We open at home with the Georgia schools during winter break . Not ideal. I think we turned the corner , or certainly the page last season , and look for good things on the court.

I agree with you, Stonewall. I think we've turned a page and the players are buying into Kearn's system and coaching style. I believe we hit a home run with his hire, and hopefully we can hang on to him. I like his emphasis on defensive play, and I believe it had an impact last season.

I’m excited for this season. Kearns has done an amazing job so far and last year was the first time I had watched that much App basketball since I was at App. I’m anxious to see what this team does this year and to hopefully get up the mountain for a few games (if applicable).

I too am excited for Coach Kerns 2nd season. Can’t wait to see this squad build off of last season with an exciting recruiting class that includes a blend of young talent and transfers that bring elements to strengthen the roster and its capabilities. I love that Kerns is engaging with the community and fan base. He’s been great with all the You Tube stuff and embracing the attitude of why can’t we begin to do what the football program has done. He just seems to get it. In hearing him talk of course he wants a team that plays strong defense but he wants to play to the strength of his players and not just have them fit a certain style. I love that because that is how the game is played now and that will bring more talent to the mountain. I think we have a special coach. For how long, who knows, but I like the culture he is building.

The preseason magazines are starting to role out. Lindy’s gives us some respect. That in and of itself is refreshing.

We've been at this point with so many new coaches since the 50s-60s Bob Light era...getting a fresh start with a new coach and a blend of returning players and promising incoming recruits. Cremins and Peterson were keepers, but we couldn't. Apke was a keeper but lost the support of his AD (Laney) and he just gave up. Cantwell was a great guy, but too young and inexperienced for a head coaching position. Fancher had one good run, but he was just one game over .500 after 10 seasons. Capel and Fox were both in over their heads.
Coach Kerns is a keeper...if we can! He's already restored a lot of lost respect for Mountaineer basketball in the southeast. It'll be interesting to see how quickly he can get six new recruits on the same page with our returnees. If he can work that magic, ummmmmm say by mid-January with back-to-back home visits from South Alabama and Troy, this App team could make a lot noise.

That's an excellent summary of the last 50 years on the hardwood!

Thank you, sir. I've observed the
Mountaineer MBB rollercoaster one way or another every season since '62. The high-points were most enjoyable; the lows were always disappointing. Some of the lows were downright grim considering the *back story* and/or the behind-the-scenes *drama.*
I'm all-in for high points in my remaining days!

Well put ‘66. Sadly the downs have been more numerous than the ups. Been an APP fan since 1968. Grew up having ACC basketball forced down my throat and them being so good made the suffering even worse. That being said it does appear that Kerns is a keeper. Really liked what I saw last year, especially the emphasis on defense! Again, sadly, we won’t keep him unless we pay!

Scrap the previous schedule.
Only playing divisional opponents.
Playing the same team in consecutive days at the same site.
Still 18 games for now.
Women are going from 16 to 18 games and will be mirroring the men.

Interesting. Makes sense from a logistics standpoint. I'm not sure if any/many fans will end up being allowed to attend games, but this would make me more likely to visit knowing I could get a couple games in without being away from home long.

ACC/Big 10 MTE schedule out today. Hopefully we're still able to line up some decent OOC matchups. Coach K was alluding to the game cap being a bit of an issue. With the delayed start to the Sunbelt season even more time for App to hopefully jump into one of these MTE's or get a couple decent in-state matchups lined up.

Few OOC games have been announced. Auburn, Tennessee (Dec 15th), SCSU, and Bowling Green.
