We are in need of someone to take over the maintenance of the MMB. Yosef has done it for a long time, and we are grateful for all he has done, but life happens and he no longer has the time to devote to its upkeep. If anyone here is interested in helping to keep the board running, please let me know via DM.

Transfer Portal
Couple of players have announced that they've entered the transfer portal today:
Will keep this thread updated. App currently has 3 open roster slots with these two departures.

Re: Transfer Portal
Parker on the move again? He didn’t quite live up to the expectations, but gave us some good minutes. Wonder if that hints to the return of our other guards??

Re: Transfer Portal
Maybe these guys see less opportunity in the future due to better incoming recruits / returning players. Bet some of them end up at lesser programs.

Re: Transfer Portal
RJ Wilson was actually providing good minutes off the bench early in the season before an apparent injury. The interesting thing to me is that the three players who have transferred out are the three that Kerns and staff had originally recruited at Presbyterian before coming to App, although I think that Huntley was as well. I'm sure that those spots will be filled with very capable student-athletes.

Did Kerns recruit Parker before he went to JMU for two years?app97 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 25, 2021 5:08 pmRJ Wilson was actually providing good minutes off the bench early in the season before an apparent injury. Yes, the Presby staff had offered him, along with Miami (OH), Vermont, and Bowling Green, according to the verbal commits page.hapapp wrote: ↑Fri Mar 26, 2021 6:17 amDid Kerns recruit Parker before he went to JMU for two years?app97 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 25, 2021 5:08 pmRJ Wilson was actually providing good minutes off the bench early in the season before an apparent injury. Re: Transfer Portal
Hopefully one or both of the seniors return. It'd be great to see Holmes sporting some bigger crowds next year and see if the team can run it back.
The starters put in some serious minutes this season, so there is still an opportunity for other guys to get more minutes and develop without compromising the gameplan. It'd be really nice if they were able to get another couple guys decent minutes in the rotation for rest reasons.

Re: Transfer Portal
My guess as well. Without knowing anything, I think Almonacy is a better bet to come back.AppStateNews wrote: ↑Fri Mar 26, 2021 1:40 pmI wouldn't expect both seniors to return.agentpaul001 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 26, 2021 11:05 amHopefully one or both of the seniors return. Ole Roy messed up. Kessler is a stud. I know no chance of getting him but one can have dreams. The number of players in the portal is astounding.

Re: Transfer Portal
Players leave, or choose to leave, for a number of reasons. Playing style, playing time, cultural fit, personal reasons, off the field/court issues. Not sure that you can place the blame on any one thing or person without hearing the whole side. It happens.

Re: Transfer Portal
Selfishly I do too...but if I was a player and not happy...Put in all that time to sit on a bench? Ever bought something and reverted it?

Re: Transfer Portal
Just a wild guess. Maybe 55% will find a new D-I roster. Maybe 25% will have to go down to D-II or JuCo. Maybe 5%, after considering their options, will decide to get off the portal bus and stay where they are (Methinks this option is available this season only and it has a deadline). Some 15% will find no takers and will have to do some serious soul-searching about their futures.

Re: Transfer Portal
I have varying degrees of thought on this one. First I tend to believe that if a college kid wants to transfer to another school let him go. That being said it doesn’t thrill me to see this ridiculous number of kids moving around. I get tired of when watching a game hearing a player referred to as “Wake transfer” so and so- who is now playing for a new school. Who cares where a guy used to go? I don’t.
I would hate to be a coach who has dedicated time, resources and emotional expense to bring a young person into my program only to (usually) see him get butt-hurt after a year or so because he isn’t getting what he believes is adequate playing time or doesn’t “fit” the system. Now if a young man isn’t happy with certain academic aspects of the school he is attending and needs to find a different school that is another issue (big laughing emoji and high degrees of sarcasm). Of these over 900 folks how many will actually improve their stock enough to parlay it into a paying pro career? I’m guessing very few.
