Justin Forrest Returning
Absolutely massive! I didn't expect both seniors to return. Huge news for this program! Run it back and Take the Stairs!

Hoping this means Kerns isn’t going anywhere.

Re: Justin Forrest Returning
I wanted to start a new thread that asked how excited are App fans for the ‘21-‘22 seasons?!! Football roster is loaded again, hopefully near or full capacity crowds, basketball roster stocked, and one of my youngest is starting at App in the fall- his twin brother will be at State so pray that my money tree blooms soon!

Re: Justin Forrest Returning
I was told next season’s basketball team could take a slide. Looks like it could be a special season and these two guards making another year commitment confirms it.

Definitely agree. Could be so special that we will lose Kerns to a big money job but the program would be left in such a good place that we should be able to hire a good replacement. I wonder if Texas State, CCU, and Georgia State will return their top seniors as well?

Re: Justin Forrest Returning
The return of both seniors is definitely HUGE news. UNFINISHED BUSINESS! It will be interesting to see how things develop in the Belt with several other programs loading up on transfers.
So, my understanding is that this leaves us with one more scholarship to offer. What is the best use of that scholly? Do we go after a true 3 point shooter or do we got for some size? I lean toward the size since we have these guys returning. Thoughts?

Apologies. After I posted this, I realized there was another thread where it would be more appropriate and the discussion is already going on.Yosef84 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 02, 2021 8:43 amThe return of both seniors is definitely HUGE news. I would think that makes them the SBC favorite. I have not paid attention to their news so thank you! It will be interesting to see if any of the top players in the league actually leave.BUTCH1991 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 02, 2021 9:46 amGeorgia State returns everyoneAppStFan1 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 02, 2021 8:32 amDefinitely agree. Re: Justin Forrest Returning
Getting a post guy who can walk right in, step on the court and be an impact guy from the start is a tough "get." Not impossible, but tough. The portal is still out there; and the JuCo national tourney is a mere two weeks away. Hope our staff is well-represented there. The nation's 24 best Division I JuCo teams will be there. Single-elimination!

Re: Justin Forrest Returning
There are plenty of options in the portal which could work both ways - A guy who has played at least a year would be ideal in my opinion -however there could possibly be some guys who have committed to a particular school only to see that school pick up a player from the portal who would be ahead of said-recruit for a year or more, thus possibly having reconsider and open back up his recruiting ---

Re: Justin Forrest Returning
Getting Forrest to stay is a huge win for Kerns and company. There was some mutual interest for a high major grad transfer. At the end of the day, Justin did not want to leave this team. He loves App and bleeds black and gold. Had that interest been there 3 years ago, he would have been gone. Kerns has created an AMAZING culture.
Also, he learned another solid year could get him legit NBA looks. He was already projected D League.

Can you reveal who the high major interest was from?AppStateNews wrote: ↑Sun Apr 04, 2021 12:19 amGetting Forrest to stay is a huge win for Kerns and company. I know of a couple ACC teams for sure. His dad is a very well connected AAU coach (and ACC legend).app97 wrote: ↑Sun Apr 04, 2021 9:43 amCan you reveal who the high major interest was from?AppStateNews wrote: ↑Sun Apr 04, 2021 12:19 amGetting Forrest to stay is a huge win for Kerns and company. Re: Justin Forrest Returning
Yep - they listed his Dad's name last week as one of the players who made a shot at the buzzer to send his team to the next round - for those who possibly forgot - his Dad is James and he played at Ga Tech during a couple of their really good years
