Most of the game last year, the ESPN predictor kept saying we would lose until roughly the last 5 minutes. I think the team can pull off a win, but it'll be a close one at Holmes.

Any win on the hardwood over UNC-C is good. Haven’t followed them lately. Maybe I’m remembering the days of Jeff Mullins and Bobby Lutz, both ran good team summer camps. Two good guys that could coach. I don’t even know who coaches them now.

We need all hands on deck for this one. Charlotte is dangerous with their four-guard attack plus 6-11 frosh center Aly Khalifa from the NBA Global Academy (Egypt). Khalifa was the C-USA freshman of the week (week of Nov. 7-13). This thread now covers four of the '9ers five starters. The fifth guy, playing 25 minutes per game, is 6-7 soph guard Jackson Threadgill. Threadgill was a prime recruiting target of the App coaching staff but he's one that got away.

In their last game at Halton the '9ers shot 49% from the floor, 41% from the arc and 88% from the FT line. If they do that to us, we're gonna have a long night. Our defense has to be on fire and we can't survive long, dry spells w/o scoring.

We MUST improve free-throw shooting. It amazes me that this has been an ongoing problem. Last year it got better as the season progressed but we're currently shooting 62% from the stripe. That has to get better, and fast.

Time to solidify that we have passed UNCC on the hardwood. 2-0 in the past two years , beating them for recruits, going to the tournament etc.

Oh yeah. Forgot about this game against the school with the narcissist fan who refers to himself in third person. That dude is obsessed with some App State.

It appears that they have taken advantage of the transfer portal for essentially all talent other than the little guard they had last year. That screams lack of recruiting ability. We’ve taken the opposite approach, returning our nucleus and adding solid freshman over transfers. We shall see.

Living in Concord in the late 90’s/early 00’s, Charlotte had an extremely well respected basketball program with enough talent to beat almost any program in the country. As a high school student I was even a casual fan.

That time is long gone.

The athletic department there has careened a consistent top 50 program off a cliff into absolute irrelevance.

The fact that we may well win our third straight against them tonight is a testament to the impressive work of Kearns building our program and the absolute disaster that Charlotte has become from where they were.

I think we win an ugly one (as always) tonight.
