App State v. Akron (Gulf Coast Showcase)

Showcase it's not as Apps stumble to a 22-21 lead after one half of ugly basketball. Apps shooting just 26% from the floor but 100% (4-4) from the line. Apps doing OK on defense, but the Zips have firm control of the boards with their bigs.

Akron finished the half on 7-0 run. After his performance last night Delph was 1-8 in the first half.

Great to see Michael bounce back. 18 for Mike. 14 for Donovan Gregory off the bench and 11 for Delph. Adrian is having a solid tournament.

Gregory off the bench?!?!?! Must have been late to a morning meeting or shootaround. Cannot see a scenario that he is a bench player. Great to see he performed well with 14 points and 5 boards.

Gregory's scoring was actually a perfect 100% today... 4-4 FG AND 6-6 FT. The team desperately needed that and Gregory needed it, also.

Likely because his biggest stat against Delaware was 5 fouls. He didn’t even shoot the ball in that game in 18 minutes. Kerns starts the 5 guys who are playing the best at the time and the guys who are bringing it in practice. He changed out one or two players in the starting 5 almost every game last season until finally settling on a consistent group for conference play.
