Firemoose can probably help me confitm, but saw that App has offered JUCO Forward Anthony Vanhook out of Cape Fear C.C. in Wilmington, NC. Listed at 6-4, 210 with interest from Kennesaw State, LIU Brooklyn and Northern Arizona. Class of 2015.

The interest first appeared around Christmas but I was covered up with football and just added him to my notes. The offer might have just come in the past week or two while I was working the last rush to signing day and then trying to fix my computer, or I might have just missed it. I do know he didn't post it on his twitter account but he doesn't say much there anyway. With both Rivals and Verbal Commits showing an offer I'm going to add him to board in just a few minutes. And all of this tracks with the reports that we were going to be looking to find a bigger JUCO to add to the class.

Maybe a Boo Lawrence type player. I wonder if he has Boo's hops?

Image If that turns out to be the case, what a treat he'd be for our team and our fans. Even after all the years, I can still close my eyes and marvel at Boo's baseline drive and rafter-shakin' dunks in VG. Almost like it was yesterday.

Looking at some Local guys in the foothills. Looks like Mount Airy has a 6'10'' kid but I hear he's already committed. East Surry has a good small forward who can shoot. West Caldwell always has talent. Last kid from there who came to ASU was P.L. Henderson. Alleghany has 2 good Seniors in Santos and Sprinkle. And Starmount has 2 kids that average 15PPG+. Last 2 players to come out of STarmount was the Davila kid to Virginia Tech and Ryan Abraham came here to ASU and had a really good career. The guard they have now seems pretty good. West Wilkes has 2 guards that are solid and seem to be able to shoot the 3 really well.

Any chance Fox and staff offer local kids a Walk-On Position.

From internet reports SF/SG Matt O’Boyle (6′ 4″ 190) of Prima Community College in Tucson, AZ has received a reported offer from App. A player page with video highlights has been added to the Main Page.

Confimed with Miller Mills out of New Bern, NC (home of Nate Healy) that he will be a preferred walk on for App State next season. He's a 6-4 wing and has a good shot from 3.

From twitter SG/SF Hudson Terrell (6′ 5″ 200) of Brookstone School in Columbus, GA has accepted a PWO position to App. I have added a player page with video to the Main.

I put both those hudl highlights and a youtube clip on his player page when I added it yesterday. They contain some of the same footage but there are also some different highlights on each. Some may not have seen his page because with the PWO he's listed in the Other Newcomers section instead of the Commits section.

If these 3 newly posted preferred walk ons are on the team, we are already up to 18 players, with at least 2 scholarships left for next year. That's a whole lot of players and a lot of walk-ons.

Well, it's red-eye time for ASU's men's and women's basketball coaches and nail-biting time for dyed-in-the-wool ASU basketball fans. Coaches got a 12 hour recruiting period yesterday--yep 12 hours from noon until midnight. Today through Sunday, they have a three-day evaluation period for legit, certified events (limited to regularly scheduled high school, preparatory school and two-year college contests/tournaments, practices and regular scholastic activities involving prospective student-athletes enrolled only at that institution where the regular scholastic activities occur). A four-day dead period follows Monday through Thursday of next week (April 13 through 16). The spring signing period begins next Wednesday, the 15th. Another active recruiting period of six days begins on Friday, April 17th and runs through Wednesday, April 22nd.

That's not the end of it (as it's never really over for the coaches), but it's where I'm stopping for now. We should know a lot more about our 2015 recruiting fortunes by the 22nd. No, don't hold me to that. There are too many narcissistic prospects out there!

Looks like App just landed another preferred walk on. Kevin Kerley out of Cincinnati, OH by way of Moeller HS. Point Guard.

Saw that yesterday. I was waiting to see a bit more before I moved him up to the Other Newcomers section but I saw what I was looking for and moved him up today.

I'm not worried with all these PWO's. Not costing us a ship and they'll have to earn one on the court. We'll know soon about a couple of post/wing players with LOI's (hopefully).

Sources are saying that SF/SG Matt O’Boyle (6′ 5″ 190) of Prima Community College in Tucson, AZ committed to App this morning while on his visit. Haven't seen anything official but I have moved him to the Commits section of the Main page. I'll update as soon as I see something else.
