Per Twitter and internet reports Purdue PF Jacob Lawson is transferring to App. Link to one of the stories below. He'll have two years left after sitting out the transfer year.

The nucleus of those great Northern Guilford/Oak Ridge Military teams under Stan Kowalewski is reunited. Mike Neal, Jay Canty, Jonathan Frye, Michael Obacha and now Jacob Lawson are back together.
As best as I can remember, Canty and Obacha never played at Northern Guilford and Frye never played at Oak Ridge, but all played big roles in making their respective teams the class of the state.

And for those who haven't seen Lawson play, he's not a great shooter but he'll likely be our most athletic player.

Jeremy Clayton was fairly productive on both ends of the court without being able to shoot.

Just what I wanted to hear "one more year". Been hearing that line for the last decade and I'm really getting tired of it. Will Capel even be there in "one more year"? I have supported ASU basketball and had season tickets for the past 17 years and every year we hear "one more year". I actually attend 90% of the home basketball game so I'm one of the few still hanging on. When will it end?

Sounds like he's better than anyone we have returning or incoming recruits as far as our front line goes. Must have been homesick to be willing to sit a year. Probably would have started for Boilermakers next year.

Shot 53% fg and 75% ft last season. Significantly better #'s than our team averages for the past few seasons. Just saying.

What am I missing here. He averaged 2.2 points a game. If that makes him significantly better than the team it is no wonder everyone is watching the ACC

Unfortunately this team NEEDS shooters, not just another athlete.

Not a program changing moment or anything but definitely a positive. From what I've seen of him, he looks like a Tevin Baskin type. With Baskin gone after next season, he could play a similar role in 2015. Finish at the rim, alter shots on defense and rebound. Good pick-up.

We do need shooters. Aaron Scott comes in with the reputation as a perimeter threat and maybe Frye will be healthy enough to contribute also. Biggest question will be point guard play. Burgess, Neal or Ty Toney will need to step up. If Burgess or Toney can hold down the job, Neal could also play off the ball and be a scorer.

This guy has the athleticism to succeed defensively and rebounding. You don't have to be a scorer to be a good basketball player..

Dennis Rodman had people around him who could score. We don't. BIG difference. We have guys to rebound the ball, this team needs someone who can score.

You're point about Rodman is correct, but I've heard nothing from several big Purdue fans with whom I've spoken to suggest this guy has 1/10th the hustle of the Worm.

Several Purdue fans I know liked this guy a lot and seem to think he was primed to start. I think this is a good pickup myself.

You and I seem to have heard the exact opposite. I'm not down on the kid, yet, but I'll believe he's all that when I see it.

Seems to be a very promising pickup. Lawson doesn't solve all our challenges but definitely is a step in the right direction.

Have a good friend who is a Purdue alum. His take on Lawson is that he is an incredible athlete that can really protect the rim and block/alter shots. Said his problem was staying out of foul trouble. He won't be facing the depth of quality post players he did in the Big Ten, so hopefully he will be able to stay on the floor consistently.

He's got some pretty sweet dunk vids on youtube. IMO, we can't have enough 6-8 PF's that can just yam it on one end and protect the rim on the other. I'd like to see if he has some good post moves in the half court though. Should fill in the Baskin hole quite nicely.
