I hate those guys.
The word for Dukes fakes is "haughty".

Very different rivalry brewing than the ones with Georgia Southern and to a lesser extent Coastal. Those fan bases are snaggle toothed havin', above ground swimming pool buyin', crocs with headlights wearin', mouth breathin', sister kissin' rednecks.

Purple and arrogance go together well and make for an enjoyable afternoon when they come up short.

0-2 in Harrisonburg versus App since this Tweet.

He needs a stronger jaw line.

Played a below average game and won versus a top three SBC team on the road. I’ll take it.

2 tournament teams
Not sure the Sunbelt gets in 2? Win the tourney or need to fix the bad losses to get an at large (N Illinois, Troy, UNCA)
We are 2-0 against Quad 1 opponents and 2-3 against Quad 3, go figure. (7-1 against Quad 4)

Right now, our only remaining non Quad 4 games are JMU (Quad 2) and Ga. State-away, Marshall-away and Louisiana at Home (all Quad 3)

Still trying to decide if the turnovers were because App was sloppy? Or was JMU just that good at steals?

Regardless, GREAT timing for a huge road win. Very impressed with the tough play late, given how frequently App failed to close out tight contests last season.

One final thought: big props to JMU fans for packing the house today. App fans better show up in force when the Dukes visit Boone.

Kerns was so hyped on the post game radio show. Love it! He noted the great crowd JMU had and that it was over 7,700 strong and called out App nation to pack the Holmes and show out emphatically.

What was the attendance for the Auburn game? I really don't think any of the quad stuff will ultimately matter for us unless Troy and JMU win the rest of their games except against us.

From the parts of the game I saw, JMU was hustling and selling out for turnovers. It resulted in App getting some easy buckets at times, but also resulted in, well, a lot of turnovers.

JMU appeared to be much more intense and aggressive in the second half. I was bothered that App seemed not to be. We started out much stronger than we finished. I think the guys are still learning how to play with a lead. JMU certainly did their part to cause us problems and get back in the game.

Big win to stay the course in the conference race as well. Troy primarily by virtue of their weak ass schedule has a real shot at capturing the one seed. Hopefully App grabs the second game against JMU and they end up on the other side of the bracket.

App vs JMU could end up with a great rivalry. #UpsetU

Lol, I bet JMU hates us!!
I thought it was there from the FCS days and especially the 07-08 years. Assuming we stay in the same conference for a few decades I could see this supplanting GaSo for all-around rivalry in all sports.
As soon as JMU joined the Belt, there was a rivalry. It just went dormant for a few years after App moved up, until JMU followed.

We probably can't do 15,000 for the home stand. I don't blame Kerns for be frustrated from time to time with the non student turnout. I feel confident that the students were be there in good numbers for all four games.

Not sure I fall into "rivalry" status with JMU. Just my opinion. If JMU had not been very good in basketball (like when in CAA), would many have cared other than to see App win a game. Stink can role into Holmes with only two wins and I still want to beat them by 1000.
For me, the only reason jmu football game was important was due to them being undefeated and in our way to conference championship.
Sure, we played them in fcs playoffs a few times. That does not make it a rivalry for me
We played Marshall for several years every year. That would be more of a rivalry.
Everyone has there perspective. I like having one rivalry...and some other games that may be more important than others. Marshall is next in line if I had to pick a second rivalry..
Maybe jmu gets to more important game status, no matter the record, at some point in time...but not at this time. If jmu were 0-7 in football when we play them, just another game. Stink rolls in at 0-7, best em by 1 million.

JMU online fans .. totally different perspective 🤣🤣

I get your point and not looking to play games with semantics. The "rivalry" previously was more limited to football but we did play them periodically during the regular season as well and always had great games. There was always a little something "extra" in the emotion related to the games. One of the most exciting finishes I remember in App State football was when DJ Campbell threw 3 TD passes in the final 2 or 3 minutes of the game to come from behind and win at JMU (believe it was 1992). Obnoxious fans or not (many say that about App fans), I'm glad to have them in the conference.

Regarding the "one rivalry" thing, I get what you're saying but rivalries happen. They aren't just created. Because of our success, teams have targeted us and those rivalries develop. We always have had more than one rival (Marshall, then GS and Furman in SoCon come to mind). Georgia reserves "rivalry weekend" for Georgia Tech but for Georgia fans Florida, Tennessee and Auburn are all considered intense rivalry games as well. I think App is evolving in that same way. Real rivalries evolve, they aren't created. GS is legit. Coastal has risen because of recent success but if they fall off, it will dwindle again. Marshall is legit...and whether fans consider it "there" yet or not, JMU is on track to be legit.
