Our bench is very impressive.

Joey and some other football players sat about 8 seats down from me. Cool to see them supporting the basketball team. Great atmosphere and the halftime game with the exceptional kids was awesome! Student section was amazing! Concession options are really weak and need more points of sale for beer. Lines shouldn’t be 20 plus deep. Overall, a great experience, though.

Abson with 8 blocks ties a single game school record. He should have had two more that the refs called questionable fouls on.

What an incredible evening. Haven’t watched a replay of the game yet, but I really hope the atmosphere came through on TV. Holmes was ROCKING! GREAT win! This team is so fun to watch, amazing how far we have come athletically in the last few years. JMU coach might be one of the whiniest coaches I’ve ever seen, and his players act just like him. Proud to have Coach Kerns, as his demeanor translates to our guys. Overall, incredible performance, incredible atmosphere, incredible time today. TAKE THE STAIRS, and keep it going!

Whining is pretty much what JMU does. You should step over and look at their board. They have one or 2 sane fans, but the rest are hung up on how the refs were biased, JMU is our super bowl, their players had an off night, blah, blah, blah.appstate24 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 27, 2024 11:56 pmWhat an incredible evening. No doubt, I’ve called them unc-lite for a long time. Arrogant, obnoxious, and whine nonstop.AppDub wrote: ↑Sun Jan 28, 2024 12:26 amWhining is pretty much what JMU does. I may be outdated, but I thought the 5 seconds to inbound rule is in play when they rolled the ball.
(Not the 10 seconds to half court).

Spillers, Donovan, Haircum, and Tate were 25-30 from the line.

Great question. Does the 5 second rule end when release of bball or when player catches it. I would think when player catches it..so it would technically be in play. With that said, never seen it called.TurfMonkey wrote: ↑Sun Jan 28, 2024 6:18 amI may be outdated, but I thought the 5 seconds to inbound rule is in play when they rolled the ball.

Just looked it up, at all levels of basketball the 5 second rule ends at the release of the ball, not when another player takes possession.BambooRdApp wrote: ↑Sun Jan 28, 2024 7:06 amGreat question. That is an awful rule. You have 5 seconds to inbound the ball and 10 to get it over half court. When a team rolls the ball neither rule applies. I've seen a few instances when it's ridiculous. That being said, and I don't want to criticize coaches who know way more than I do, but I'd love to hear coach explain why we let our opponents just roll it past half court. Why not put one defender in the back court to make them run clock? This is almost like the prevent defense in football.MrCraig wrote: ↑Sun Jan 28, 2024 7:24 amJust looked it up, at all levels of basketball the 5 second rule ends at the release of the ball, not when another player takes possession.BambooRdApp wrote: ↑Sun Jan 28, 2024 7:06 amGreat question. I didn’t like it either, but you have to credit JMU for pulling it off. It definitely bought them time to battle back.Bigdaddyg1 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 28, 2024 7:58 amThat is an awful rule. OTOH, I prefer to view this from a positive perspective: Now that Kerns has seen it, I doubt he’ll allow it to happen again.
Watching on TV did allow the benefit of seeing Abson’s blocks in slow-mo. That young man is poetry in motion.

Definitely have to give JMU credit for using the roll up to their advantage. They also hit some clutch shots. Fantastic free throws by our guys. That has to be mentally exhausting going to the line 40 times. You are constantly taken out of rhythm and have to focus. Fantastic job by our guys.

Knocked off their ranked undefeated football team and sent them crashing to the ground (on College Game Day no less). Turned around and did the same thing to their ranked basketball program, we own them and they know it.

If Kerns doesn't get the nod for SBC Coach of the Year, something is terribly wrong.

One of the announcers yesterday pointed out that JMU is among 4 teams with at least 18 wins. App is among the group of 16 teams with at least 17 wins. I think I counted maybe 22 conferences with no teams at 17+ wins. Not too shabby
