MBB vs JMU, 6:00 p.m. ET, ESPN2, Saturday, Jan. 27, 2024, Holmes Center, 111 Rivers St., Boone, N.C., 28605, big crowd

JMU"s Super Bowl is here.

Two weeks ago, App State went to Harrisonburg and on the strength of a dominant first 10 minutes and clutch plays down the stretch, the Mountaineers upset the Dukes in front of 7,700 mostly purple people, 59-55. I would not expect a score that low this time.

Since then, neither team has lost and in most those games, have dominated. Per Warren Nolan, NET, RPI, Jim from Hickory and Hodges Gap Earl, these are the top two Sun Belt teams.

JMU is tied with Troy and USM in second place while App is one game ahead. A JMU win creates clusterfudgery while an App win keeps the Mountaineers in first.

This game will be on ESPN2 and there's less than 500 tickets left. The student section is sold out and any student who shows up without a ticket might get one of those left. Yeah it's a big one.

This is also the first Saturday night game for App Basketball in a good long while.

You already have your ticket and will be there. Weather is looking drivable for everyone not from Florida. You can calm down in the car afterward. Get there early.

For what it's worth: Joe Lunardi now has us as a 12 seed (playing Duke in Spokane). If we win Saturday we might move up another seed.

Is anyone tailgating since the weather will be kind of OK or are we all slamming into the 2 or 3 bars around Holmes?

They are just taking who ever is in 1st place for SBC. But we are seeded higher than Troy was at 14 when they were in 1st.

And higher than we were earlier in the week. I get that we are the conference's AQ, but if we get on the 11 line, we are in the running (mathematically) for an at large bid.

Losing to any team other than JMU the rest of the way knocks us out of At large contention.

Likely already answered but I can't keep up right now with all the posts. I was going to park in Library deck. That should be fine for Saturday or should I expect to park farther away. I can't imagine the crowds will require parking off campus as is done for football, thinking First Lutheran. As much as I would like to make a day of this I have to get some things done in the morning and likely heading up from GRO around 3:00 PM.

A shame the Mountaineer Express bus leaves Boone at 7:00-ish PM-ish back east-ish. That makes a nice trip but I am not missing the end of the game either-ish.

Liberry deck, while a longer walk, will probably be an easier out. But take a slicker.

My opinion is that we would need to win out and then lose in the semis/finals of the Sun Belt tourney, to have a shot at an at large. This article does a good job showcasing the landscape for 2 bids when the Missouri Valley Conference got 2 in:

The fact that we're even having this conversation is a testament to how good this team is. Have we even been this good?

We won last night and our NET dropped 5 spots. The Sun Belt by some measures is the 23rd ranked conference. The SoCon is 10 spots better. Will be hard for a second SBC bid.

I know about the back and forth APP - STATE,
I know about the finger guns raised up during free throws

But it's hard to tell on TV, are there any chants we need to know about to be ready for?

I heard more than a few and justified "Bull Shit"s from the crowd during the GaSo game on Thursday.
