We got 4 votes in the coaches poll as well: https://sportsdata.usatoday.com/basketb ... aches-poll

I am happy to see us just listed. I don't want us ranked until the postseason to keep the team hungry but am very happy to get our name in here. Does anyone know the last time we got votes before? The Cremins or Buzz years or did we ever at the D1 level?

Can’t remember if Fancher’s 06-07 team did or not, but they beat some very good teams that year. (UVA, Vandy (yes they were good that year) UCF, VCU and Wichita St). Finished 25-8 after losing to Ole Miss in NIT. Ended up in NIT after losing in OT to Charleston in Socon semifinals.

I just looked back at records of those teams.

UVA finished 2nd in ACC
Vandy 2nd in SEC
UCF 2nd in CUSA
VCU 1st in CAA

We also gave Davidson their only conference loss that year, on the road, in our only matchup with them. That was Steph Curry's freshman year. They went 29-5; the following year was their Elite 8 run.

UVA I believe actually tied for the ACC regular season title that year. And Vandy was a 6 seed that made the Sweet 16 and was a controversial no-call away from advancing to the Elite 8.

I'd forgotten we beat VCU that year. In fact, that was the year they upset Duke in the first round of the tournament.

I don't know if we ever got votes, but I remember there was at least a little buzz that we were an at-large contender based on the fact that Donte Minter had become eligible midyear. Unfortunately we had a couple bad conference losses that pretty much knocked us out of consideration for that.

This is one of the best basketball teams in App history. I am just so over the moon thrilled that they got the crowd Saturday. What Kerns has done over the last five years is amazing. The players are awesome and nine deep. In the one-and-done, NIL era, it is amazing to see a TEAM this good. Who knows what the future holds, but I appreciate this ride! Make like Sherman in Georgia this week. GO APP!

We were pretty good that year. I remember the tournament in Puerto Rico and pulling that upset. I checked the polls from that year and we did not receive any votes.

Yep me too….College of Charleston packed the coliseum. Unbelievable that it wasn’t a neutral location . Was a home game for the lower seed. 🙄

My wife went to VCU and had just talked me into moving to Richmond the month before that VCU game. I have long said that was the most fun App State game I have ever watched in person. Very up-and-down exciting.

I have also long believed Fancher's NIT team was the best App team since I arrived on campus in '94 -- depending on how the rest of the season goes, that 06-07 team will probably drop to second best.

I remember the 09-10 team being really good, but don't remember them receiving votes. That was the last season of Buzz v2, after which we hired that other guy instead of McMahan, right?

Same. I had a long uninterrupted streak of SoCon tournaments. A couple , one in Roanoke and one in Greenville, were the highlights.

I don’t remember the crowd so much as our poor play. It was ours to lose , and we did. Coaching. Coaching. Coaching.

Was this the game were we missed some free throws from someone that was pretty automatic on the line just before the end of the game?

Im ok with saying the other guy's tenure never occurred the way bcoach points out we never played Virginia Tech in football in 2011.

DJ Thompson went 0fer from the field in regulation and missed the front of a 1-and-1 late in the game. Then Donte Minter was at the line with 2.2 seconds left, down one. Made the first, missed the second.

Drayper dropped 38 for CofC. Cremins was the CofC coach.

All this after chanting back and forth at the Davidson fans who were leaving their semifinal victory.

The most painful App State loss of the last 20 years, with the exception of the 101-100 game.

The VCU student section was one of the roughest I've ever encountered and their adult fans on the way out weren't much better. Made the victory that much sweeter...
