Didn't we lose Huntley either last year or the previous year in the tournament? Did the Arky coach play possum a week ago and basically give us that game?

If we don’t get an NIT bid we riot.

This. I would have preferred the NCAA tournament like everyone else, but how many times have we gone to the NCAA tournament or the NIT in our entire history? Four times? It's definitely possible to make a deep run or even win the NIT. This would definitely go a long way toward building on our reputation as a solid basketball program.AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 10, 2024 7:20 pmNIT for sure. I just hope they don't treat it like a letdown. We need to go deep in NIT with a nice run and maybe win that title. Hopefully this loss keeps Kerns around for one more year though. JMU is about to lose their coach to WVU so it will be interesting to see what happens with them.

I disagree with those that are saying this is a bad wasted season. I haven’t been this engaged on a day to day basis for basketball in 15 years. I’m sure I’m not the only one. Culture change takes awhile, significant steps were taken this year.

Probably just post-game buzzer beater pain from people. I think after a couple days it’ll settle in how good this year has been for the program.

Yep, I love our football program but have no idea what’s going on there now. I’ve been so invested in basketball

Great team, great season! I just wish that tonight we could have seen more “Marsh Madness”. He could have provided the spark that was missing.
Can’t wait for next year!

Would love to go to the NIT but if we play like we did last night and tonight we will get smoked by whoever we play in the first round. There are no marginal teams in the
NIT.

I hate the loss - been a basketball fan for decades. Only miss if can't get down my mountain. Loved the season, the attitude of players. Hopefully have an NIT bid; if not, release the 24-25 season tickets; I'm ready! Go Apps!!?

UCSD just accepted a bid to the CBI. Maybe we will know before selection Sunday on NIT/CBI

Team deserves the chance to rid themselves of the bad taste in their mouths. Not sure the long term impact of playing in the NIT. Few could name last years champion. (Not saying not worth it to our players and fans but most don’t follow it unless their team is playing.)

In the past NIT has been announced post NCAA selection Sunday.

Do not understand "wasted season".
Season not over. If we get NIT, when is the last time we were in NIT? It has been a minute or two
Although the season is not over, when building a program, seasons like this make it a heck of a lot easier for coaching staff to get HS talent and transfer portal talent.

Yeah, but a 10 loss SEC team would make the NCAA tournament. ESPN has Florida as a lock and Miss State and TAMU on the bubble. All 3 have 10+ losses.CoachRob wrote: ↑Sun Mar 10, 2024 7:12 pmYes, totally agree. This is a very good basketball team. But the Sun Belt is pretty weak or average at best. Like it or not, there is a talent disparity with the power conferences. I feel this App team would have 10 or more losses with an SEC schedule.
Doesn’t take away the fact this team has had a great season and something to be proud of.

Might bode well for us, we are 50 spots ahead of UCSD in NET. If they are CBI bound hopefully that means we are going to the NIT.

Pretty sure I saw something about Ark State not having 2 of their players last week.Bigdaddyg1 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 10, 2024 7:23 pmDidn't we lose Huntley either last year or the previous year in the tournament? Did the Arky coach play possum a week ago and basically give us that game?

07 was our last NIT. Memory’s a little vague but I think we lost to Miss. St in the first round.BambooRdApp wrote: ↑Sun Mar 10, 2024 7:46 pmDo not understand "wasted season".
