A big reason I think Kerns is going to leave is because I think these are good kids who would want to finish the mission and return. If Kerns returns though I will be disappointed in their decisions. I want to see what happens. The fact the system allows this just ruins any enthusiasm I had for next year.

This very thing is a big reason why I won't give to NIL collectives or participate in pay to play of any kind. We just don't have the capability to outbid these ACC, Big East, SEC, etc teams and so I see no reason in participating in pay to play. I am all for true NIL but these collectives are literally meant to pay players to stay and play and I just won't do it. I want players who want to be here. I rather lose doing this the right way than win by bribing kids to stay.

I think all of this is a mess, its just totally changed and potentially has ruined the college game. That said, I'm not worried about being outbid by the P5 schools, my concern is being outbid by our Sun Belt brethren.

But there are plenty of mid majors that might be able to offer them more than we can. Moreover, I'm talking all sports not just basketball. And, we have had players leave our program for other SBC schools.

How does that make him a starter in, say the ACC? Spillers was at a JoCo last year and averaged 13 points and 9 rebounds, again in the SUN BELT. Where in the ACC (just a regional example) do they start? Louisville? Georgia Tech? BC? It's an honest question.

That is what I am terrified of. If Kerns was staying (who knows) he could have made that very case to them. If this team had come back minus Gregory, we could have been really good. I like the team we could have had coming back more than the bottom of the majors.

We could have been really good for the Sun Belt. This team was missing a very good and consistent 3 point shooter (not one that stands in corner waiting for an open 3 that rarely occurs) and a point guard that can score (does not have to be from outside..one with handles and can get to badler routinely) and a decent defender...just my observation.

I don't know the money in basketball but in the SEC there are backups getting 50K or more in football. Crazy money on top of scholarship and all the amenities they get at 18-22 years old.

Only 1 player from the freshman and sophomore recruiting classes remains (Luke Wilson).

Gone are Zocko, Ogletree, Abson, Sasha, Marsh, Strothers, Hayes...... 7 out of 8.

"Eval" issues or things that make you say hmmmm.

I believe Zocko had some family stuff based off previous posters. That’s a shame because he shot 36% from 3 this year and 91% from the line. Not sure about the others, Ogletree left real early don’t even know if he made it to the spring semester.
