February 22nd for the ceremony. I can still see him driving baseline and pulling up for that 10 foot jumper. It was money most every time! Congratulations, Darryl!

Payton and Fitch were freshman and played significant roles.

Taking nothing away from Darryl; he is most deserving of this honor. There are others less well known save only to asu66, Steelman, and a few others from many moons ago. Players such as Tony Gray, Stan Davis. Tony Searcy is well known and should be considered. After all, he led the nation in rebounding his senior year.

Well, there you go again, Stonewall & Scat, both of you with photographic memory. I knew the answer concerning C.Payton (The Piano Man) but decided to refresh my mem. on some details.

Thanks for the memory refresh. I went to the tournament in Roanoke each year in school. Good times there. Drove home from one in a snow storm all the way back to Boone. Good teams Cremins put on the floor, fun to watch.

Darryl is also a large reason we had DJ Thompson wearing the black and gold!

" Coach Rob" is also so much more that a player. As a coach he has touched so many kids and they are all better for it. This is not confined to the players he has coached but so many more around the schools he has been at. As a father he raised two really great kids. He is married to a wonderful lady who has spent many years working with kids. If you have not met his parents you have really missed something. This is a really special guy. The real honor is for the school to be allowed to hang that jersey.

And yes to Tony Searcy. He was a man in the paint. Just dominating.

The best part about Tony Searcy was that he was relatively local. Surry County.

T-Bone was a rebounding machine. Darryl was fun to watch and so was Boo Lawrence.
