Heading into this game with a 2 game win streak and tied for 3rd. A win here would be big with all the other teams beating up on each other. Getting to 7-4 would help us to start pulling away from the pack.

Southern Miss has lost 4 in a row prior to this matchup with their last win against ULM. Lost by 18 to Coastal in their last game. Lost to Troy by 26 to begin their 4 game skid. Weeks appears to be their best player, being a 6'7 post player scoring 17.8 points a game and guard Tavaris averaging 15.8. Seems like the rest of the team is inconsistent with different players stepping up at different times and no one else averaging over 10 a game. They have a primary 3 threat, Lewis at 38.5%, but he's only scoring 6 points a game. I expect them to test our bigs and try to get them in foul trouble, so hope Moodie can get some good minutes tonight, because we will need him to play. Currently they are 5-5, so beating them would basically give us a 3 game buffer against them in the standings with us having the tie breaker. Coastal (6-4) at South Alabama (5-3) is another game to watch. Assuming Troy and the Georgia teams will win their games, however, if we win and Georgia State loses, we'll be in a tie for 2nd place.

This squad has a penchant for playing up/down to the competition. USM struggling of late could be a bad omen for App.
