MBB vs Marsha 2/19 6:30pm
App hosts the Thundering Herd this Thursday as Marshall enters the game with 1st place in the conference on the line. As JTApps mentioned, this is Marshall's 4th game in 7 days and they will be traveling to Boone. Marshall's strength is their shooting so that could favor App if the lack of rest affects their shooting. With Marshall being a rival and it being a game of big importance, hopefully we can get better student turnout for this one. A win here coupled with a S. Alabama win would have us with virtually a 1.5 game lead (.5 actual) considering we have the tiebreaker over both Troy (assuming they beat ULM) and S. Alabama.
Marshall has 3 guys averaging around 15 points a game with Fricks leading the way at 15.4 ppg. As a team, Marshall shoots the 3 at 36.9%. They have not lost a game all season when the opponent scored less than 70 and they've only lost 3 times when the opponent has scored less than 80. In conference play, App has only scored 80 4 times (81, 81, 80, 81). However, we've only allowed one team in conference to score over 80, but that was Marshall with 88. Outside of that game, we've only allowed conference teams to score over 70 twice, both ODU games they scored 73. We can't afford to have a poor shooting night and we have to guard the perimeter.

Last time out Marshall shot 50% from 3 vs. us (12/24). It was also a foul fest with 42 fouls and 56 FTAs. We went 55% from the FT line (17/31)...
Hit our shots and we'll have a chance to win.

Re: MBB vs Marsha 2/19 6:30pm
I was off a day or two on that, but I do think Marshall showed signs of fatigue in the second half last night. They shot 12-22 from 3 in the first half, but dropped to 6-24 in the second. I know they'll have two days off, but they're going to have a five hour bus ride in there as well. Our defense can wear teams down, and our deliberate offense forces teams to play defense deep into the shot clock. The timing of this matchup is certainly in our favor if we can take advantage.NattyBumppo'sRevenge wrote: ↑Tue Feb 17, 2026 10:27 amApp hosts the Thundering Herd this Thursday as Marshall enters the game with 1st place in the conference on the line. Now I'm offended, how can the 90s be that far back to have a throw back night.

You can get $25 seats at half court in the front 10 rows usually without a promotion.

Re: MBB vs Marsha 2/19 6:30pm
Coastal dropping last night helps out a bit on a few edge case tiebreakers. ULM came very close to knocking off Troy which would've been nice but oh well. As it stands a win tonight positions the team really, really well for a Top 2 seed. It's quite likely a win tonight and Saturday locks up a Top 2 seed for the team. Game by game..

I’m not using my two for tonight if anyone wants them. Behind the scorer’s table nearest the App bench.

Wished I had time to make it up, apparently I'm not making a basketball game this year.
