This kid out of the doghouse yet? He was dressed out and traveled with the team to Athens. This mean that he's eligible? News on such things, meaning App Basketball, is hard to come by so I figured I'd ask.

Breaking news: Tar Hole nepotism, which got Capel hired, has in turn DESTROYED the once-decent Appalachian basketball program. As a guy who flaunts his duel fanship with an incredibly disrespectful user name, that's all the news you need to know.

Fire Capel.

He's talking about the big-dollar donor who got Capel the job.

Gotcha. Was not aware of that.

So, anyone got any news on Aaron Scott?

Should never play another college basketball game again. 3 arrests, different cars belonging to agents, stolen or not, speeding, drugs. Good role model.

Looking like no one has heard one way or the other. Him being in his warmup on the sideline and actually traveling with the team down to Athens in the first place would suggest he's an active member of the team.

In all seriousness, people would take you more seriously (and I would stop badgering you) if you'd change your user name. How could you think that's ok?

I think he's a UNC Grad. I hate the heels more than anyone, but if someone wants to be a fan of ours and contribute time and money, I'm all for it. Like it or not, we're going to need those type fans to grow the base.

Actually nope! I'm a proud Appalachian State graduate in the class of 2011! :D

In all seriousness, I have considered changing it to "AppHoops" b/c it would be synonymous with the blog I'm trying to slowly build, but that would be my sole reasoning for any switch. I registered under Appheel before I began blogging and I maintain it b/c that's the username I have for everything so it's a convenience thing for one and I just like it for two. As an aspiring writer, I try not to respond to badgering or difference of opinion due to the fact that writing sports can draw out all types of opinions, some of which, will be different from your own. The four single greatest years of my young life have been spent in Boone and I am a Mountaineer through and through and above all else.

However, I don't forget where I came from and UNC was a big part of my family upbringing and childhood so I could never discard it. I have often wondered, again in all seriousness, if you dislike my username so much mainly because you dislike UNC or would you still feel the same if my name were AppPack or AppDeacon etc.?

Duke was a big part of my upbringing... I have been a MOUNTAINEER since 1981 and could care less about Duke now. I am all in on Appalachian, taking the good with the bad sports-wise. I would suggest a name change to drop the "heel" part too...

I personally don't have a problem with folks who have a secondary rooting interest as long as they put App first (assuming they are App students or grads).

When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things. 1 Corinthians 13:12

Having a name like AppPack ect would be disrespectful as well, but since UNC actively oppresses Appalachian State (and every other UNC System school) via the Board of Governors and the nepotistic hiring of one of your beloved Holes is the sole reason our BBall program it at an unfathomable low, your user name is of particular meaning.

I didn't just wake up one day and decide to hate UNC. I hate UNC for the same reason you SHOULD hate UNC: because it operates to the detriment of our alma mater and is one of the most corrupt institutions in the land.

Well I try and stay out of the politics of it all, but I am thoroughly impressed at your use of New Testament Scripture to deliver your point. Nicely done. You should know that changing my username won't change anything other than the name itself, but if it will help promote genuine discussion and debate about Appalachian State (such as Aaron Scott's eligibility which frankly, got away from us early!) then I'm alright with being "AppHoops" on the board. I guess, in the words of the O'Jays (and Jalen Rose), "You got to give the people what they want."

Thanks all I ever asked for :D

And if you INSIST on supporting UNC, you're better off turning a blind eye to the "politics" of UNC System control and the almost weekly scandals that happen in Chapel Hill. Staying in the know about such issues will create a conflict of interest.

I'm well aware of the mess going on in Chapel Hill unfortunately I just keep most of my political opinions to myself. I'm thankful Appalachian has yet to be caught up in anything of that magnitude and I hope that we never will!
