SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Appalachian State University women’s basketball player Maryah Sydnor has been named the Southern Conference Player of the Month of January, as announced by the league office on Friday. Sydnor helped the Mountaineers to four conference wins over the month of January, improving their overall record to the current 9-12 and a third place ranking in the SoCon.

The junior barely missed averaging a double-double last month as she ended January with 22 points per game and 9.4 rebounds per game. Sydnor had four double-doubles in January including a performance of 20 points and 14 rebounds against no. 1 Chattanooga on Jan. 13, leading the team into an overtime game.
