Conference Prediction thread

Only conference games remain and the SBC is having a down year.

Favorites to win would be Ga St. And UT - AR. Realtime RPI predicts we'll go 9-11 in conference.

I'm going to say 11-9, winning 7 at home and 4 on the road.

No prediction for how App fares?

Despite the SBC being down, it's still 20 games in 63 days with a good bit of flying to do.

12-8 would mean an overall winning record at 15-14. That's what I'm hoping for. 10-10 would be two thumbs up as well.

I think we will end up with a loosing record but fare much better in conference then the experts were expecting us to at the beginning of the season.

I'm predicting 6-14 in conference with a big surprise win at home against Georgia State on a Saturday night.

I will admit I don't follow basketball nearly as much as football - In my world of sports there is APP FOOTBALL with a distant second being WVU football and Duke basketball and then APP Basketball and all other teams in all sports fall somewhere after those --- APP FOOTBALL is the only sports team I follow where I "know" all the players, watch every play in every game and am happy or sad when I go to bed ---

I feel like we have a good chance at going 10-10 in conference play. They league is really down this year outside of 2 teams so .500 isn't as difficult as it seems. We need to protect the home court and pick up 3 or 4 on the road.

I want to see the team have a good enough record to advance to the conference tournament. That way, when the ninth place team gets to go in our stead, we can look at them and say "you're welcome".

We can't participate in the tournament due to the postseason APR ban.

I really believe that we are going to have a winning record in the SBC. I was there for the Charlotte game, and I was impressed with the play of the team and the involvement of our coaches. The team has a winner's attitude and plays to the end. Couple that with the VT and Alabama games, we are going to compete to win in very game. I don't see any blowouts, but hard faught games til the buzzer.

Nope, imagine if a team ineligible for the postseason won the conference tournament in a one bid league, which the SBC will be this year unless GA St goes 20-0 in the conference and loses in the championship game (they still might be left out).

I couldn't make a prediction due to not knowing anything about the competition. Has anyone seen any SB teams play?

I haven't seen any SB teams play; however, I have read that the SBC places well below the SC in quality of play. So, most of us agree that Coach Fox's team is better than any App team fielded in the recent past. Consequently, there is a lot of optimism for me.

I haven't read this anywhere, but I don't believe that to be the case. Sun Belt was 19th in conference RPI while the SOCON was 30th.

The SoCon currently is one place higher than the SBC in conference RPI. The SoCon's top team is Wofford at 40, Ga State is the best SBC team at 49. Two SoCon teams have winning records, while three SBC teams do. App State is 5th in the SBC at 202, we would be fourth in the SoCon.

Historically the SBC ranks 6-12 spots higher as a conference. But losing WKU hurts and USA and ULL are way down this year among others.

We need to add NMSU for all sports and add Mo. St. that would help basketball.

True - but losing Davidson and CofC really kill the SoCon - of course, losing APP has probably helped them for now ---
