Women's BkB @ GaState Noon EST GAState Sports Arena

Like their male counterparts, the ASU women's basketball team has been in free-fall since senior C/F Maryah Sydnor suffered an injury late last month in San Marcos, Tx. Since then, our ladies have gone 2-5--including a stretch of three straight losses. Sydnor returned to the lineup and played a role in her team's 55-54 win at Louisiana-Monroe last week. On Thursday evening, Sydnor put on a remarkable 18 point, 18 rebound double-double performance but didn't get a lot of help in a 55-45 loss to a very tall UT-Arlington team.

Today the RPI #154 Apps (11-13, 6-9 Sun Belt) take on the RPI #240 GSU Panthers (11-13, 6-9 Sun Belt) in a battle for seventh place in the league and a place at the table for the SunBelt Tourney in New Orleans. Currently, the Apps are in a three-way tie (that includes GaState and Louisiana-Monroe) for seventh and desperately need a win to break up the logjam and enhance their chances of making the tourney. Only eight of the league's eleven teams will get tourney berths.

Despite their higher RPI ranking, RealTimeRPI.com has the Apps as seven point dogs in today's contest. Jeff Sagarin has it dead even.

I have watched this team all season and its getting old.
They commit way to many turnovers to win at any level of basketball.
We need more leaders on the floor.
I see no change in player improvement.

I was following live stats and thought I saw where we were up 62-61 with a few minutes left after being behind the entire game and then I look again a minute later and we are down 62-69 and from there is gets worse the last 2 min of the game.
This is my very generic signature added to each post.

Katie is a streak shooter. She's very capable of hitting 8 shots in a row or missing 8 straight. Unfortunately for AppState, she can also be a turnover machine. A.Elderkin has to recruit more talented players--and soon. We need a strong, savvy point guard and another high impact big to replace Sydnor.

There has to be a limit to turnovers.

What i see is fear in players eyes on the offensive side of the court. We run a triangle with only 1 person who can score off the triangle.
We need to change the offense to add more picks, more movement, to allow a less skilled player to score. Also, we should add more full court pressing throughout the game.

BUT, in the end Turnovers are KILLING us.....and TO's need to be UNACCEPTABLE
