I know its the the number 7 team in the country but that is just poor playing.

Honestly, if you have been watching the game we have been playing decent. We are matching them shooting from the floor. Sure turnovers look lopsided, but the FT stats tell the story. 21/23 for the holes to 5/8 for us.
We also have a lot of freshmen getting significant playing time.
Play has definitely improved from early in season.

The numbers that tell the real story - 6'11 and 6'11, etc to 6'6" and 6'7" etc.

We just can't match them inside. Unfortunately, that is likely the case for much of the rest of the season. No doubt the freshmen are getting some great playing time and that will pay off in the future. But, we will definitely need to find some inside players.

I watched the entire game, and to be honest I was pleasantly surprised by how well we played, first we made Carolina play harder than they anticipated, only down 11 at half, second we have some very talented freshman guards, not only, basketball skills, but also very athletic, and finally, Fox, can flat out coach, he didn't sit the entire game, and he was teaching/coaching the kids from start to finish. I'm finally starting to get excited about the direction of the program, looks like Fox has a blueprint and he is slowly putting the pieces in place, going to take some time, we still do not have any kind of inside game, or bench, but things are finally starting to look up.

The kids played hard tonight. UNC is just too big, and too deep and just killed App on the boards and in the paint. We aren't quite on that level.......yet!

Oddly enough, we held the rebound advantage at one point in the second half. That all changed and most stats got out of hand during the last 7 or 8 mintues of the ball game.
Definitely not a moral victory kind of guy, but there are a lot of positives our guys can takeaway from tonight.

When you consider the talent differential, you have to tip your hat to our guys. They did fight and there were some promising performances. It is a long road but from each game there do seem to be a few things to hang our hat on.

Our team looked better than I expected. However, youth and lack of size will be an issue all season.
As fans we need to ask ourselves do we really give give our all for Appalachian or just Appalachian football? Our support for other sports needs to grow. Volleyball did awesome this season, yet nobody ever went to their games. Hell the spandex shorts alone should be enough to draw some attention. Want better basketball recruits? Give them a reason to want to play in front of a nice size loud crowd.

GREAT POST!
A total shame we played on national TV tonight and there wasn't a single thread until a negative post about turnovers and much the same was the opener. Time to get behind all of our teams 100%.

They had 44 points from guys taller than anybody we could point on the floor. You can't teach 6'10. That's what beat us tonight. Shabazz had a first half though, didn't he? I look forward to seeing him over the next several seasons.

I was in Chapelhell tonight and saw a pretty good contingent of APP fans. Our guys did play very hard and had some bright spots in the game. We stood in a line from here to KBS so they could check my Wife's purse and missed the tip. When we got to our seats holes up 15 - 7. I hate to give any reps to UNC but their pep band is very good. The special olympics half time scrimage was great. Does anybody know about the bond issue Sherrie and a very short lady from UNC were hawking at half? We've got a long way to go but our guys at least are playing organized ball rather than pick up ball. Shabazz!

Shabazz had a great game, to the point, the announcers made the comment that Roy doubled and sometimes even tripled teamed him in the second half, that kid can really play.

I thought this game was the best we've looked all season. Yes we were tied with Texas with 8 minutes to go, but I thought that was more due to Eaves going off from three and Texas looking terrible.
It's getting there, but defensive rotation is awful. We must have given up 20 dunks in the last 3 games.
Going into league play, it might be tougher than expected. Little Rock is undefeated, Georgia State is still good, ULL and ULM are up there and UT-Arlington has done well.

I can see us finishing further down the standings this season simply because the league is much better overall.

even though we are 2-9, we need to show support for the team and start supporting the team, Fox's first recruiting class already looks strong, and are going to be really good in a year or two, and Fox is the best coach we have had since Crimmins. Capels really gutted the program, but it looks like Fox has a blueprint to turn things around.

Went to game with the wife, still recovering from Montgomery, but it looks like Coach Fox is taking the same road to building a team as coach Satt. Thats turned out very well so far! Enjoyed the way we competed.
