I'm not downing or questioning anyone's commitment to attend games, just simply pointing out that the majority have no interest. I envy you for being able to attend the games. I keep track on my phone when I can and try to make a game or two a year. Hard to do when you live 6 hours away, married with two kids one of whom is 3 months old...compared to when I was enjoying college and attended almost every game.proasu89 wrote:/\PP ST/\TE GRAD 09 wrote:Three people commenting on this thread about the MBB game answers the other thread asking about why attendance is down.
A handful of us were actually at the game.
No worries, there was actually only a handful of us at the game./\PP ST/\TE GRAD 09 wrote:I'm not downing or questioning anyone's commitment to attend games, just simply pointing out that the majority have no interest. I really wish students would have more interest.
Not from me. I know a good coach when I see one. Reminds me of Satterfield's first season. Fox will get things turned around.Goapps15 wrote:Another close loss. Does Fox not get any of the blame? I don't care who's fault it is, we should not be in last place. He's lost close game after close game.

good question. I had hoped/thought that we would see improvement this year as well. Eaves is still doing his thing and Shabazz is starting and much more of a scorer on the wing than Babic and Clarke were last year, but our record is worse this year. Burgess sort of disappears sometimes for some reason, as far as scoring goes, but Shabazz has more than than replaced that scoring this season. Spagnolo is the missing piece from last year that has not been replaced, although collectively, our big guys probably provide the scoring/rebounding that he did sometimes. As far as recruiting goes, I feel like Fox has recruited guys in his first couple of years that would do well in the classroom and fit the system, including tons of walk-ons who never see the court. This helps our APR issue from the Capel era. But Fox and company will have to start convincing players that good things are in store who might otherwise sign with other schools. I feel like Fox's players play hard, but there is a lack of resolve to get a win for some reason. Not sure that we can make many conclusions until at least another 2 years, after the Capel fumes have been completely releasedAtlantaMountaineer wrote:I have never understood the "love fest" that some on this board seem to have with Coach Fox. Living in Atlanta I don't get to see many games in person but I listen to almost every game and keep hearing the same mistakes being made over and over. Coach Fox seems to be a nice guy and says all the right things. I know he inherited a dumpster fire when he was hired, but I had hoped to see some improvement this year over last instead of further deterioration. Is there something that you guys see in person that convinces you that things will get better under Coach Fox? I realize this is only his second year but how long do things have to be this bad until you start looking at the coaching staff and/or lack of recruiting?
I have interest, but what is there to say when you're 6-20? At some point it's hard to find much new to add after yet another loss./\PP ST/\TE GRAD 09 wrote:I'm not downing or questioning anyone's commitment to attend games, just simply pointing out that the majority have no interest.proasu89 wrote:/\PP ST/\TE GRAD 09 wrote:Three people commenting on this thread about the MBB game answers the other thread asking about why attendance is down.

His first team won several more games than probably anyone realistically expected. That, combined with charisma and a solid resume, buys some good will.AtlantaMountaineer wrote:I have never understood the "love fest" that some on this board seem to have with Coach Fox. What have you seen to believe that? I think he is an outstanding guy and a solid coach. But our program is so far down it will take a miracle for things to change.AppGrad78 wrote:Not from me. We won't get the great recruits needed to win if the current teams play in front of an empty house. Something should be done earlier in the season to get more people attending. Show people that it's a fun event and atmosphere. Attendance has been an issue well before this dismal season.EastHallApp wrote:I have interest, but what is there to say when you're 6-20? I thought your comment was about the fact that not many people were commenting on this thread./\PP ST/\TE GRAD 09 wrote:We won't get the great recruits needed to win if the current teams play in front of an empty house.
