Recruiting

Unread post by PBR1893-BEER-HAT-GUY » Sun Feb 21, 2016 10:07 am

Let me start off by saying I'm clueless as to any
recruiting style by coach Fox. I have been
following UNC Wilmington's team during and after
Buck Fuzz and they have turned things around
in a good way under Keating. I hadn't noticed that
Keating was the head coach at Hargrave Military
Academy where I was a graduate in the late 80's.
I'm that far out of the loop obviously.
But I wonder just how possible it is to try and pipe-
line some players via a prep school like Oak Hill or
Hargrave? Coach Fox has an uphill battle and this
Should not be seen as questioning his strategy because
I know nothing about the ins and outs of recruiting,
but there's gotta be a way to connect with some of
these post graduate programs. I can tell you that
these military school kids are disciplined and would
benefit us on many levels. Just a thought. Thoughts?

I don't claim much knowledge of our hoops programs, but it just seems to me if mens is in the state of disrepair it's in as the result of Coach Fox's predecessors, we need to give him ample time to build these recruiting networks. I don't care how long it takes him to win.

Check the roster. Most of the kids Fox has brought in are former prep school players. And among them are kids from Hargrave, Fork Union and Oak Ridge. We also have a transfer from VMI sitting out his transfer year. He'll have two years of eligibility beginning this fall. Coach Fox regularly "mines" the academic preps and the military preps.
