Love seeing JMU back on the schedule. Hopefully App will return the trip to Harrisonburg at some point, which is about an hour away for me.

Yeah, a die hard basketball fan gets to be the first to crap on the schedule.

WARREN WILSON COLLEGE

Really?

REALLY?

They are not even NCAA D2
They are USCAA D2

REALLLLLLLLLLLLY?

----------------------------Rant Pause-----------------------------------------

Their enrollment is 850, we have more Pokemon Go players on campus daily than that.

Really?

And two in the Triangle as well.

Basically the home OOC schedule is not good (other than whatever excitement people get from WCU visiting) but the road schedule gives lots of chances for alumni to come see the team.

All but one OOC game is within a 4 hour drive from Boone.

JMU and Hampton are good mid-major programs to do home and homes with. Good to have WCU on a schedule.

I've played Pokemon Go on campus and this is 100% true.

Three Presbyterian schools on the schedule; Warren Wilson, Davidson and Montreat. I guess this schedule is pre ordained.....yuk yuk.

OK, I used to be coming from the same point of view that you are. That's when we were coming off the road with a three-point loss to Winthrop and headed out on the road to a tough hardwood at the likes of Gardner-Webb or Stetson.

Just look at the OOC road schedule and cut Coach Fox a little slack for his *still* very young team to have a couple of confidence builders/breathers. We're talkin' DC in the McKillop/Belk arena, Duke in Cameron, State in the PNC and UT in Thompson-Boling. Hmmm, did I mention UNCC??? That's not exactly chopped liver.

Just as a disclosure: this is not at all a knock on Coach Fox or his squad. This is just constructive criticism of the execution here.

1. I thought the video was pretty tacky. There didn't need to be a video released for the announcement of a fairly weak basketball schedule. At that, the video was just of the players walking around Holmes, shooting hoops, and saying where they were playing. They could have at least weaved some action shots from this past season into the video.

2. While it's by far not the absolute worst schedule in history, it's not amazing either. JMU, WCU, Duke, NC State, Charlotte and Davidson are definitely bright spots that I'm so thankful for. The rest isn't anything to write home about. If we're needing OOC games, I wish we would at least stick to D1 schools. We could go for UNCG, ETSU, UTC, UNCA, Elon, ODU, UNCW, ECU, Richmond, George Mason, Kennesaw State, College of Charleston, The Citadel, Liberty, MTSU, Winston-Salem State, or High Point, but instead, we have Methodist and Warren Wilson.

3. Outside of Western Carolina and possibly JMU, I don't see any of the games in Boone attracting an audience. None of these games (in Boone, at least) stick out to me and say, "Wow, that's a must see game!" Right now, we need at least one or two of those a season if we want attendance to increase regularly. Our attendance is in the toilet and bringing the likes of Warren Wilson, a school we have absolutely no history with, to Boone isn't going to change that.

Lately even Warren Wilson College isn't a guaranteed win. The home OOC schedule sucks, but hopefully they can gain some experience playing against the likes of Duke and State on the road.

Could not agree more, we need wins and some confidence. The next comment will be contested in sure, I'd take a win vs warren Wilson, then a loss to high point. We need W's to gain some program momentum imo.

If we want to play the P5's and other top level level G5's we have to be willing to give games to others on a lower level than APP. I just don't get some people complaining about this.

While home schedule is not outrageously exciting, lots of road games that alums can attend. We are still rebuilding. Just hoping for ongoing improvement.

I am fine with a bottom of the barrel D1 school, I am fine with a top or a local NCAA D2 school.

With Wilson, this is not a NCAA D2 or D3 team, this is not even a NAIA D1 or D2 team. This is a USCAA D2 team. How many people on this board can honestly say they know what USCAA is without a Google search, and there not even in the top of that.

Montreat is at least a NCAA D3 and Methodist is NAIA. If we have to play these filler games, lets at least get somewhere near the same accreditation as us. Wilson's top major is creative writing.

Lees McRae is NCAA D2, Lenoir-Rhyne is D2 why not them? In fact here is a list of NC NCAA D2 schools we could and should play before Wilson: Barton College, Belmont Abbey College, Brevard College (moving to D3 in 17), Catawba College, Chowan University, Elizabeth City State University, Fayetteville State University, Johnson C. Smith University (have them bring there band with them and everyone wins), Lees–McRae College, Lenoir–Rhyne University, Livingstone College, Mars Hill University, University of Mary, University of Mount Olive, University of North Carolina at Pembroke, Pfeiffer University (moving to D3 in 17), Queens University of Charlotte, Saint Augustine's University, Shaw University, Wingate University, Winston–Salem State University.

It is not that I don't understand filler games, although not having as many or better ones is why some on the board said that moving up was a good thing. I just can't take these bottom of the bottom and no name schools being there when there are better options. The fact that we come off playing @ Tenn and @ Davidson to hosting WARREN WILSON COLLEGE, just screams to the world that we sink on ice and we ok with it. I would rather us get blown out by a middlin D1 school that when against a warm body, effectively D7 school.

Methodist is D3. But your point is well taken.

I'm not sure what fans were expecting with this schedule. Until we are a top 150 RPI team scheduling is going to be very tough.

This is a pretty good schedule given our record the past five years.

Coach Fox was working diligently to keep Warren Wilson and Montreat off the schedule. It's not what he wanted. Until we turn it around, this is what we have to deal with. We've also dropped one Sun Belt game from last season and added two additional home games, not counting the exhibition to our non-conference schedule. Neither OOC schedule is head and shoulders better than the other.

2015-16

Furman
Jacksonville
Charlotte (Bowl Game)

2016-17

Warren Wilson
Western Carolina
Montreat
James Madison (Bowl Game?)
Hampton

I agree. How much better can a schedule get for a squad who didn't even make the conference tournament and had losing streaks of 9 and 6 games last season?
