Pro Ball in Boone Area?
Thought some might find this interesting. Be forewarned. Punctuation was not the friend of whoever wrote the release.

Not sure exactly where, in this area, is an arena that could be set up to fit the field description listed on the site. App wouldn't be setting up any of our indoor facilities for this (maybe Holmes, if some money came our way?) And it does say Western NC-Boone AREA (could mean a lot of things but no further east than Wilkes I wouldn't think given there is apparently a team in Winston-Salem) but even the surrounding counties don't have many/any buildings for something like this without a lot of modifications. Don't see Asheville or Hickory for it or I think they would have used those areas as the reference point instead of Boone. Guess we'll just see what happens. Be interesting to watch.

Gotta be Holmes. There is no other venue in the area that could do it. Could be a lot of fun. I went to some AFL games in Charlotte way back when. I thought they were a blast.

I know down the mountain here in WS, they have started a indoor team. I didn't recognize many names on the roster, outside of Chase Blackburn(?), but it seems like there are quite a few names that a WS State fan would be familiar with. If the destination is Boone, I could see a bunch of former Mountaineer, Catamount and SoCon/Sun Belt players being on the roster. It would give the football crazy fans something to do in the off-season.

I went and posted on the Democrat story, it would be a very tight fit, if it were possible. You are talking about a ~70 Yard/210' x 85' Playing surface + Walls + Benches. That is over 2 basketball courts long + 1 wide. In addition I would wonder if with the catwalks if there would be clearance for kicking. You would be looking at about 3k - 4k seating. If you put back in the bleacher on the balcony, Varsity would be a better fit.appst89 wrote:Gotta be Holmes. There is no other venue in the area that could do it. Could be a lot of fun. That's what I do. I gripe and I know things.

Varsity would be the venue. Sit upstairs, game lower level. Plenty of room and seats.

At the end of the article it mentions secret personnel. Could you imagine if the got Armanti to join as quarterback, that place would be packed!

What? Sorry, that screams of "keep out the folks with brown eyes."boonetown1 wrote:Not to be negative, because, although small, this will be a good thing for the town. but are we going to have issues with players interacting with students? I mean Boone is a small college town and the AIF probably doesn't have super harsh sanction regarding their athletes. Just playing devils advocate I guess (just what I first thought).

If they use orange and black unis, it'll be Halloween every night they play. Those logos on white unis with orange numbers trimmed with black piping would be pretty special. Or black numbers trimmed with orange piping--still on all white.

I like the orange, black, silver color combo. They could do some really nice looking unis. I'm intrigued enough that I'll make the drive from SW Virginia at least a couple of times to see if the product is good.

I didn't know AIF was a thing until this, but I think I just found my favorite team. Awesome town, awesome mascot, awesome color scheme, now we just need an awesome final product!
The mountains are calling and I must go

That's awesome news!! It's a shame things didn't work out for him in the NFL, but so glad he's back "home"
