Tiger Woods is being sued by the family of a Florida man who died after he was allegedly over-served at Woods’ restaurant and died in a drunk driving accident, according to TMZ.
Nicholas Immesberger worked as a bartender in Woods’ restaurant, The Woods, in Jupiter, Florida, which is run by Woods’ girlfriend, Erica Herman. Immesberger, according to the report, finished his shift on December 10, 2018, but stayed after to drink at the restaurant. He was allegedly served to the point of “severe intoxication.”
Immesberger lost control of his car around 6 p.m. that night while driving home, swerved across three lanes and went airborne before landing in a grassy area on Federal Highway in Port Salerno, Florida, according to the Palm Beach Post. Immesberger died at the scene. He was 24.
Immesberger’s blood alcohol level was .256 at the time of the crash, more than three times the legal limit, according to TMZ.

Re: Tiger Woods Sued
Seems like a reasonable lawsuit compared to others I have read about. At the restaurant I worked at in Boone in my college days there was a two drink serving cap for all employees after a shift.

Re: Tiger Woods Sued
Don't think it'll come back on him, I'm sure there is a policy at the restaurant and someone broke it.

Re: Tiger Woods Sued
I would think the restaurant is incorporated and there are policies on such things (as mentioned above). I can't see Tiger having personal liability in this. If the restaurant isn't incorporated, it could be sticky for Tiger.

Re: Tiger Woods Sued
Whether it is set up in some form of limited liability for the owners (inc, llc, etc) or not (and I am certain it is), there will be a liability policy that would cover any damages. This will settle within or at the limits of this policy and there won't be any risk to Tiger personally.

"Lawyers...assemble!"
How dare Tiger slap his name on a restaurant that would hire a bar manager who would hire bartender who wouldn't cut their friend off after one too many?

Re: Tiger Woods Sued
The Dram Shop Act will come into play, but FL generally limits its application in instances like these... Tiger won't hear much from it other than what he happens to catch on TV/Radio.

It's the American way!
Doesn't matter, 99% of the thousands of food service establishments ive worked with have LLCs and Inc's limiting their liabilities. I'd say there is an almost 0% chance Tiger isn't protected.

Re: Tiger Woods Sued
Getting an LLC in place in WNC is usually $200-$400 max. Probably more in FL but pocket change for TW. His personal attorney should be summarily fired and reported to the FL Bar A'ssn if this wasn't handled years and years ago.
