Agree on box scores. I look at them on the ESPN app.. but not the same.pop5app wrote: โMon Sep 29, 2025 6:28 amI am the North Carolina Cleveland Guardian fan club. Sure do miss reading the box scores in the newspaper and following the pennant races.like everything, money ultimately has reduced my interest. BUT WHAT ABOUT THAT GUARDIAN STRETCH DRIVE BY CLEVELAND; caught TheTigers and won the division!!! My dad was a big Tigers fan. Sure do miss our fun rivalry.
Happy Opening Day!

Re: Happy Opening Day!
So much parity this year. The playoffs have been unpredictable recently even when there were what appeared to be dominant teams.
I have kind of assumed the Dodgers would turn it on in October, and they may well do so. But I actually do think the Reds are a scary matchup in a short series.
I don't have a rooting interest, just hope we get another year like last season where some of the biggest stars are playing in the World Series.

Re: Happy Opening Day!
I am one of those sports fans that only watches a sport when the teams I care about are playing. And the list of teams I care about is tiny: App State, whatever school/club teams my daughters are on, the Carolina Hurricanes, and the Cincinnati Reds! I was born in Cincinnati during the era of the Big Red Machine, they are in my blood. I actually remember my parents rocking me to sleep to the sound of Marty Brennaman and Joe Nuxhall on the radio.
It has been years since I have watched the MLB post season. I cannot wait, even I suspect it will be only for a few games.

Braves sucked, but at least the Mets missed the playoffs after having the best record in baseball

I hope the Yankees/Red Sox game goes 20+ innings so they deplete their bullpen and get swept in the Divisions series.

The west coast games should be required to have a first pitch at 4 o'clock Pacific or earlier

BambooRdApp, did you get to the game at Bristol Speedway? How was it? I know the rain came and all that, but how did it go as a baseball field? Good viewing?
Iโve been to many Cup races there, hated it when they hauled in the dirt, but have never been to any other event there besides a race.

Unfortunately, I did not. My better half had a death in the family. I had to give the tickets away.Cro-Magnon App wrote: โTue Sep 30, 2025 7:11 pmBambooRdApp, did you get to the game at Bristol Speedway? How was it? It is the only year that I have not seen the reds play at least once in 15 to 20 years.

Yeah, the 1960s was great baseball. Pitchers threw 9 innings and had less injuries than today. They pitched instead of trying to hit 100 mph every throw. Denny McLain pitched 28 complete games in โ68. There were 29 complete games tossed this year for the entire league.

Got the dodgers right where the Reds want them. After scoring 10 runs, they think this is going to be easy. Overconfidence will be their downfall

The Orioles are my team so I know how you Reds fans feel. Hoping they can turn it around. Pulling for them and Detroit just to prolong my season a bit.
