I read that Gainey and St Louis coach are top targets. Heard rumor Archie Miller was interviewing also. I think stealing UNC players is on the table, but don’t think hiring Hubey would be looked upon favorably by their fans.

It's a new world in college basketball (well, all college sports). A few years down the road, Davis builds makes a successful record at a mid-tier school, his team makes it to the big dance a couple times...you never know. Not many schools are going to shut the door on a proven difference maker, especially if a few major donors jump on board.

State hiring Davis as their MBB coach would be like App hiring Napier as our FB coach.

Both have had success as HC’s, both would be intriguing hires…but it wouldn’t happen b/c the optics are bad and would anger a variety of donors.

After the Miracle on the Mountain the following summer I and our head football coach took our sons to quarterback camp at Furman. Of course my son wore his App gear during registration. Bobby Lamb was not amused. I on the other had was grinning like a mule eating briars!
