Meanwhile a 9-2 Army team is getting the shaft while a 2-8 USC gets to go bowling.

I get it's 2020 and bowls have pre-existing arrangements with conferences but that's just a joke. UTEP has a better record.

In 2022, once we go undefeated by beating UNC and Texas A&M... Along with beating Marshall... will our best shot for NY6
The only way for a G-5 to make the 4-team playoff would be a scenario like this: In 2022, we beat both A&M and UNC. A&M goes 12-1 and wins the SEC. UNC goes 12-1 and wins the ACC. App goes 13-0.

On current format, I am not sure App would even make playoff with your scenario given the bias to P5, however, your scenario would help for NY6 bowl which was my original post.

So, are some of y'all really saying Cincinnati should have made the playoff over the four that did? I'm of the opinion that OSU should not have sniffed the playoff since they only played 6 games but Texas A&M would and should be there before Cincy. The AAC was way down this year. Say what you will about Notre Dame but they are deserving of the berth. Their only loss was to another playoff team and they also beat them, though Clemson was somewhat depleted. We all know that, as it stands, there is no realistic path for a "G5" to make the four team playoff. If the Sun Belt is stronger and UNC and A&M are strong in 2022 then mayb, but we would have to be perfect. What I want to see, if conferences remain the same, is better bowl pairings. I do not want to see the "G5" "thrown a bone" with an auto-bid to an 8, or more, team "playoff." Truth be told, there is no fool-proof way to declare a true FBS champion. The current system is really no better than those that have come before. There will always be subjectivity. At least it makes for fun message-board discussion.

No Cincy had no shot - I do agree about Ohio State - the Big 10 played half a season and was rewarded - not OSU's fault but the Big 10 (which a joke within itself) decided not to play and then changed all their own rules to make sure OSU got in. It's a JOKE... I agree with ND even though they just proved the fraud they always are and will again when Bama ROLLS them.
I say this with no hesitancy - If ND and Ohio State had to play a full home and home SEC schedule every year neither would sniff a 4 team playoff ever again ---
