Sad, sad day. Arnie was one of my very first sports heroes.

Back during the last Kemper Open at Quail Hollow the foursome of myself, Nate Ross, Mark Freeze, and Rick Layton got tickets to the Saturday round. We had the honor of following Arnie around for 9 holes. Awesome....the man could hit a golf ball and what a personable man. He interacted with the small army that followed him that morning. RIP Arnie

Met him in the elevator on the way up to the Deacon Club at a Wake Forest game I was invited to a few years back. He signed my hat!

I saw him at the 1974 GGO. He missed the cut but was surrounded by fans.

Sad, sad day. If ever there was a legendary man or sports figure he was it for me. A great man indeed. An inspiration to all.
