Jay Thomas, former Charlotte Big Ways Radio DJ, dead at 69 after a battle with cancer. Thomas went on to perform in such television shows as Mork and Mindy, Cheers, and Murphy Brown. His story about an incident in Charlotte with the Lone Ranger was David Letterman's all-time favorite.

I remember Jay well. Short stint at WAYS. met jay on several occasions. Great person. Heartfelt condolences to his family.

I played basketball against him in a PTA vs Big Ways game for charity. He mugged me on a lay up.
