Big Raise for my 2018 Social Security Benefit ;)
I received a notice in the mail Monday saying my monthly Social Security benefit for 2018 is going up exactly $34.00. The Medicare premium deduction, however, is increasing by $24.59. Thus, if my senile calculation is correct, my net "raise" is less than $10.00 a month. Guess I could send the Yosef Club almost $10.00 a month.

No worries, your benefit will be much higher in 30+ years. Problem is the dollar's value will decrease astronomically by then as the gov will be printing far more.

Be thankful you received a $34.00 increase. I received only $31 and after my $30 increase in my Medicare insurance, I netted a whopping $1.00.

Don't complain so much guys! Now that we cut taxes on gigantic corporations by hundreds of billions of dollars, the money will trickle down! It's simple voodoo economics.appfan83 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 21, 2017 2:31 pmNewApp wrote: ↑Thu Dec 21, 2017 10:02 amI received a notice in the mail Monday saying my monthly Social Security benefit for 2018 is going up exactly $34.00. Now that giant tax cuts for Corp and hundred millionaire and billionaire have passed, they are already calling out that the "entitlement" programs of Medicare and Social Security have to be cut.
This has been the plan since the 1980s. Cut revenue by cutting rich tax rates therefore creating a budget crisis that has to be solved by cutting education, roads, Veterans benefits and other govt services. It is drown the baby syndrome.
Everyone needs to pull up their bootstraps so that the rich can "invest" in our futures for us.
Enjoy those couple of dollars.

NewApp,
What do you think would be a reasonable increase in SS per month?

Surprised the govt is raising it at all. More debt for you young folks. Enjoy the extra trillion in debt this tax reform gets us. My raise was $42 a month and I'm working at 66 and on a health plan. Not having to use Medicare yet as Primary.

Is not SS connected automatically to COLA-W or some sort of COLA index?

I wish you all would quit flaunting your wealth. I have to wake up early for a kidney removal.... I'm gettin $225 worth of $25 visa gift cards for it. What they don't know is, I've already sold my kidney once, so they're outta luck!
