One of the founders of Appalachian Ski Mountain and super nice guy. He contributed so much to the area. Prayers for the family.

I was his server a few times when I worked at The Best Cellar in Blowing Rock. From what I remember he was a very kind man, and the owners of The Best Cellar (Rob & Lisa) spoke very highly of him. I remember talking to him about a potential snowfall that was expected to happen and he said it's bad for business because that would mean the roads are closed and people can't go to the mountain.

Grady and I were named honorary alumni at the same time. It was quite humbling for me to stand in the same class as a man who meant so much to Appalachian State and to the area as a whole. His honor was well deserved. I'm still trying to figure out how I sneaked in.

We sit in 205 with his children and grandchildren. They've become extra family as we've watched the grandchildren grow up. Grady's health has been failing for some time now. I'm thankful for him that the battle is over. Rest in peace.
